I went to Azabu sabo for desserts with friends, and we all had praises for the décor. Its a comfortable place to chill and we didn’t feel that we were being ‘chased away’ although we had sat there for quite some time. We noticed that there were long queues later in the night, so be prepared to wait if you go late. We were served green tea once seated and I felt that was a nice welcoming touch. We tried the Caramelized Sweet Potato and Japananese Rice Cake with Matcha Ice Cream. The sweet potato was good, but the rice cake felt kindof sticky and bland (not sure if its supposed to taste like this). There was a promo of 10% bill for standard chartered card.
Overall quite a good dessert place to go.

As there has been many reviews by fellow yebbers on the food already, I shall not focus on food again. I’ve been to this waraku branch a few times and find it to be a good place for gathering with friends as they have big tables for around 6 to 8 people. However, for tables for 2, the tables tend to be abit close to each other and not so conducive for private conversations.
To me, a plus point about their service is the reservations. I had made a reservation but me and my dining companions were all late. We called ahead to let them know we would be late. By the time we arrived, we were more than half an hour late, and did not expect them to keep the table for us. However, they did, and we breezed in although there was a line outside. Kudos to them for that.

Went to catch a movie here sometime ago.

Went on a saturday. Firstly, the queue is not very long. Reached around 10am. This is a welcome, especially on a weekend. However, I don't really remember the queue later in the day.

Threatre wise, it is quite similar to all the other cathay branches. Normal seats in front, couple seats for last few rows, nice distance away from the screen

Sound reproduction was alright too. This place is quite new, housed in the new entertainment complex as part of the chalet compound. There are things to do after watching the show in the complex.

There are also promotion for some credit card holders. UOB at $8 per ticket on weekends if im not wrong.

Overall, I would recommend this place for watching movie if it is not too far off for you.

          4. Grill-Out!

I tried Grill-Out at Orchard Central quite a few weeks ago (end of 2009). They have indoor or outdoor setting. For the outdoor, there was a live band, which gave it a chill out ambience. However, we chose the indoor as it was a rather warm night and we wanted to chat without raising our voices over the music. In the end, that was a wrong choice as we were seated at a table under the aircon which was leaking. Hope they fixed it already..

Was attracted by their promotion about a Combo which was ‘good for 2’ to share. 4 of us ordered 2 combo sets. Cant remember the exact names of the sets, but we had pork, beef and chicken with rice as side. However, when the combos arrived, we realized that it was actually quite small. On top of it, we were hungry after a long day! The food was not bad, and I liked the rice. Only thing bad about the food was the portion. We were all still hungry afterwards.

Service wise, it seemed a bit difficult to get their attention. Could be that they wanted to give us space to linger after dinner..

As i'm currently working in the area, I've tried this a few times. To me, there’s usually a much shorter queue than the other Astons' outlets (namely the outlet at cathy which has I’ll probably faint of hunger before I get to eat). However, based on my observation, do try to go in the start of the week as it seems that the working people in the area tend to ‘celebrate’ the end of the week with Astons.

This branch is situated in the food court, and hence, u get a food court ambience. A very affordable place for western food, U get to choose a main with 2 side dishes. I tried the hickory chicken and had potato salad and onion rings for sides. The chicken was served with sauce which was nice at the beginning but tasted abit overwhelming at the end. However, you can easily scrap off the sauce if u don’t like so much. Overall, still a nice main to have. The onion rings were so so to me but I liked the potato salad. Highly recommended by colleagues was the baked potato, which I’ll probably try on my next visit.

A downside is that be prepared to wait for your food, especially during peak hours. However, I like that this branch is in a food court, especially when dining with older colleagues who would not want to have western food. They can have their usual rice food while I enjoy my western food..
