Each time I go shopping at Shaw, something remains totally constant: The crazy long queue at Pepper Lunch that extends even outside the shop itself! I like Pepper Lunch (my favourite item is still the good ol' Beef Pepper Rice- I can't stand the bean sprouts in some of their other items), but I did not quite get the hype. Most Pepper Lunch outlets I have visited are usually slightly full, but not totally packed. That was until I heard from a friend that the meat (beef) there was way nicer than other outlets. It hit me- Of course! The ingredients are probably nicer since this joint is located near Isetan Supermarket, famous for it's awesome meats, some from Japan. Okay, my guess may not be right, but another obvious reason is the menu. Some items sold here, are not sold in other outlets! All I have to say is : Wow. Not many shops can create a massive queue like that, so well done! :)
Let me extremely honest here- I do not like the layout of this particular blog shop. I mean, the pictures of the items are so tiny. Sure, you can click them to make them larger but some items, even when enlarged (I noticed this especially with the "Bags" section) , still turned out to be small. I could see the items, yes, but a detailed view? Not really. The only exception is the handphone accesories section. Also, I think some of you readers might vehemently oppose, but the items sold are not very nice. I know, I know, personal taste, but in my opinion, they are not as trendy as other items out there. But I do like the pretty gift pouches sold there. One good poin, though, is that the owner/person whom I asked questions to was really friendly, and that is really important.
I am not too good an "artsy" person, and I'm not meticulous or careful when doing stuff, so it's no surprise that I do not make thing like jewelry or clay models. If I did, I would probably mess them up. However, I have to say, even if I am no expert, the beads sold here are adorable. I like the Czech pearls and flower-shaped beads, they look amazing. There is a picture of someone's creation using the pearls and it looks classy, not gaudy. The variety here is awesome compared to most brick and mortar shops I've visited. There was a shop at Holland Village long ago, and even that relatively big shop didn't have beads as pretty as these. Their handmade jewelry is sold at www.verlenecreation.blogspot.com, and man are they pretty!
Most online blogshops are small, and created by quite inexperienced people who slowly improve, but their blogs remain very... amateur-ish. As for this blogshop, BAM! It's just like another major shop like Ebay or Gmarket. Seriously the interface is smashing! :) Also, I like that although the blogshop is really on a big scale and all, the prices are still affordable and the variety is great. Just a personal opinion, though. I wish they would include a greater variety of brands and designs from America and Europe. Sure, the prices will be much higher, but I really do not mind that. Honestly, I am sick of Taiwanese online blogshops through and through. No offence intended to anyone.
I absolutely love Threadless, and have been wanting to by a shirt myself for a long time. Once, my classmate brought a shirt from Threadless that she recently ordered. Let me tell you, the quality of the shirt is gooooood. The printed design is not the type that creases badly (she squeezed it into her small backpack and it came out fine), and when I went back to see the design she got online, the picture on the website and the colours of the shirt are more or less the same, so you can be sure what you see online is basically what you get :) I really want to buy this shirt without the hassle of using my credit card/bank card, and I did see a couple of shops in Singapore selling them, but one was sooo expensive (like $40 for a shirt! WHAT!)... so I guess I'll have to spree online, then.
