    1. Singapore Expo

Definitely no where as good as Singapore Indoor Stadium...

First of all, it's in the middle of nowhere (unless you study at temasek poly). Drive? There's never any parking. Public transport? The bus takes too damn long, and the mrt can sometimes take up to 10 mins (or more) to arrive at tanah merah station, just to travel that one stop, less than 3 mins away.

Secondly, it's overcrowded with people. I suppose it would be worse if you had an exhibition hall in the city (like suntec), but if you have NINE halls side by side, it's crazy. On top of that, 2 of the biggest churches in singapore have their weekly weekend services there.

Thirdly, I can't stand it when artists hold concerts there. The place just isn't meant to be a theatre or stadium, its an exhibition hall for goodness sake. What's wrong with singapore indoor stadium, victoria, esplanade....

The only reason why you would be there is if the exhibition is just too big to put anywhere else. At the end of the day, that's all expo is, a huge air-conditioned empty piece of land, with an undersized carpark.

If cinemas were airplanes, this would be the first class seats of the flight. Huge, comfortable, chairs that reminds me of the recliner I have in my living room (except that my TV screen is about 20 times smaller). You can press the control buttons to adjust the seat to whatever angle you like (okay, now it's starting to sound like a hospital bed or dentist chair), and the rows are so spaced out that there's no way you'll be blocked by the person in front. I think there were 20-something seats in the entire theater.

And there's no need to queue up outside for snacks and drinks. Press the button and you'll be served your orders. Quite an impressive menu too. Forget about putting the food in your lap, there's a proper table for you.

But at the end of the day, the cinema is about the movie, just as an airplane is about getting from one place to another. So as long as the quality of the movie is not compromised (heads blocking, crappy speakers, grainy screens), I think that I would still go back to my "economy class" of cinemas, and leave behind this $30 price tag for people with more money to throw around than I do.

One of the better golden villages around. Enough room for seats, especially for your legs. Most important in a movie (or you'll leave with aches and cramps all over). Well maintained too, never before see drink spills or popcorn left over from previous crowds. (Well, okay that's more of personal civic responsibility, but still...)

Most importantly, if you're going out with your friends, there's plenty of other things in plaza sing, nice to walk around, places to go for dinner or supper, or you could always go across the road to dhoby exchange. Convenient to get to by public transport (a must have for students like me).

Small cinema seats, and old. It's been hardly upgraded for years. Snacks there are quite expensive. Seats are hard, and not much leg room. And the cineplex is forever over-crowded and ridiculously long queues for tickets.

Also, I find it very irritating that they have escalators to go upstairs but you have to walk down yourselves. What's wrong with escalators that go up and down?

The only redeeming quality about it is that it has more shows available than the nearby Shaw at century square (usually). But I always go to shaw unless there aren't any seats left, or the movie isn't available.

Pretty much the best cineplex in the east. Much more spacious than Golden Village at Tampines Mall.

Slightly less choice in movies, but they do have the popular ones, so why not... Seats are quite old, but rather soft and lots of space. But one or two times I went there, there was quite some litter left behind from the previous movie... It's ok most of the time though.

Less seats available than at Tampines Mall, but they're so much less people so it doesn't really matter.

Overall, a good cinema to go to.
