Most of us, when we think of parks, will think of Botanic Gardens, Macritchie Reservoir, Bishan Park and etc. Well, how about a park that was previously a cemetry? Yes, Bidadari Cemetry is now a lush and green park opposite Potong Pasir along Upper Serangoon Road. Of course, all the dead had been respectfully exhumed and the place is now a magnet that draws joggers, nature lovers, bird lovers and nature photographers. There is a certain "rawness" about Bidadari that you don't find in the other parks. Possibly because the park was not a result of careful planning and design. It was a cemetry first, so there's a certain wildness about the place that makes it so interesting. Drop by on a weekend. Plenty of parking places at Potong Pasir. You can stroll to Jackson's food centre about ten minutes away for a cool coconut drink and famous prawn fritters before the place gets torn down at year's end. [Read more] |
