Hot and spicy- Singaporeans' favourite taste. Old Chang Kee chicken curry puff have won the hearts and tastebuds of countless locals, just look at the number of branches it has. But luckily, Old Chang Kee food items are healthier than most other deep- fried finger foods since all items are trans fat free.

Besides their signature curry puff, they are also the fishballs, sotong balls, nuggets, and many more.

This outlet at Westmall occupy a shop of its own, so there are a few seating spaces, of long stools. But the staff can be rude. Once I was there with a friend, and the counter staff couldn't take her eyes off me. Didn't they teach their staff that it is rude to stare?

The shop name is a misnomer. Although called Bonia, it no longer sell Bonia leather goods, only Carol Rino- a subsidary of Bonia.

They used to sell both Bonia and Carol Rino leather goods- bags and purses. And I bought a Bonia bag from here before. The salesgirl was patient and allowed me to try on different bags.

The quality of Bonia bags are durable and becoming more stylish. In a bid to attract younger consumers, they have used Joanne Peh and Michelle Chia as their spokeperson. While their image is improving, some of the design are still more suitable for middle-aged and elderly women.
      But not all.

The quality of its leather is excellent as it still look new even after several years of use, provided you take care of it.

I once had the opportunity to shop for a water bottle at this outlet. As they didn't have the brand I was using, the salesman offered to have it delivered from another outlet. I declined as I wanted to buy a bottle on the spot.

Although I was only buying a simple bottle, the salesman still took pains to serve me well by explaining and showing me the various types they had. Kudos to their service.

Finally I settled on a Nike bottle, and it was actually better than my previous bottle which leaked occasionally.

At Subway you get to customised your sandwich since you get to choose the bread, sauce, and filling. For a bit more, you can top up your meal, with a drink, and 2 cookies or a bag of chip. The cookies are palatable but not delicious. Don't expect Famous Amos' standard. The sandwiches are also average. Price start at about $5 onward for a sandwich.

The only other place that I can think of that has similar offering at around the same price is CoffeeBean. Comparing the two, I would say Subway is better, as they are greater variety and fresher ingredients.

However, I still prefer Delifrance sandwiches.

Go for the executive set lunch if you are looking for a value- for- money meal. You can pick one item from the main course, so out some of the dishes like baked rice, which doesn't belong to the main course section. For this set meal, you pay the price of the main course, but it comes with soup, dessert and a drink. The dessert is usually ice-cream, ice-cream mooncake or the likes, and almost always it is yummy.

For the main course, fish and chip is the all time favourite, and its side dish is French fries, which admittedly is larger and crispier than those at McDonald. I tried the salmon main course too, but at about $15 it come in a small portion, although grilled to a crispy bite, it is still overpriced.

However in my opinion, the baked rice is one of the best dish on its menu. It is more delicious than those in Pizza Hut or Pasta mania.
