Helen is a home-grown retail chain, that sells hair accessory and costume jewellery. It rivals Chomel in price and quality. Unlike Chomel, it doesn't design or arrange its creations into colours: black, purple, blue and so forth. Many of its accessory also use crystals, but you will find more white crystals used here, which is easier to match with your clothings.
The designs are classic, workmanship is good and prices are reasonable. A hair clip could range from $2.50 to about $10. Brooches start from around $20.
Like Chomel, it doesn't have frequent sales. Only during GSS, Lunar New Year or the year-end will there be 10-20% discount. Some old items maybe sold at 50% off every now and then.
Near the cashier, they sell silver cloth at $2, which is a special-chemically-coated cloth to clean your accessory. This is essential for keeping your stuff in tip-top condition.
This shop is stragetically located next to one of the entrances of the Bus Interchange. It sells causal women fashion. Here, you can find a wide variety of tops, skirts and dresses. For regularly-priced items, price for a dress range from about $50-$80. A top starts from $30. The materials are only average, hence I find them to be over-priced. The designs are also only average, or even plain at best.
But every now and then, they have sales. A dress could be discounted to $30-odd. I would recommend buying the sales items, rather than the regularly-priced ones. There will usually be many sizes available still if you come early, or they can arrange for delivery from their other outlets.
This shop is located right next to the lift lobby at JP 2. It is not a large shop, but nonetheless provides a one-stop place for teenager girls who want to dress themselves in hip, trendy Korean/Japanese street fashion. It sells clothes, hats, belts, bags, necklaces & scarves. Most are affordably-priced. For eg, a top goes for about $20-odd. Perhaps, more pricey are its hats -imported from Korea - which range from $20-odd to $39.
Most of its clothes come in limited pieces and stocks go fast.
As this shop is usually manned by one salesgirl only, it is usually closed during dinner-time, at about 5pm-6pm.
I find this restaurant offers quality Western food at reasonable price. However, the space it occupies is not large, hence to maximise revenue the seats are tight.
Its main offerings are Pork Chop Steak Salmon Lobster and Pasta. Or some combination of these. Prices start from about $12 onwards. Add $1.99 to upgrade to a full meal which includes garlic bread, soup and drink.
I have tried its Tomato soup, steak, pork chop and pasta. I find all of them to be delicious, though the pork chop could be a tad too tough.
For about $3.50, you get a rice ball with a choice of 5 fillings.
The variety of rice offered includes Wu Gu: a mixture of 5 different grains Brown Rice Wheat Red Rice and so on.
5 fillings from choices such as salmon floss pork floss cucumber broccoli pork chop colesaw seasoned seaweed and so on.
The proportion of rice given is plenty-full, and the rice is piping hot. But not the fillings, which are pre-cooked and left on trays for customers to choose.
They also have pre-packed rice triangles, which are sold for about $2 each. These are wrapped with seaweed, and use Wu Gu. There are 3 variety/fillings: Tuna, Smoked Duck or Emperor Vegetable.
Besides the above, they also have drinks & desserts, all of which use rice as an ingredient.
I have tried Wu Gu rice ball and find it to be edible, but not memorable.
I think this store is great for health-conscious consumers who want a healthy snack on the go.
