Situated next to Ngee Ann City, this long-standing 5-star hotel has seen countless guests since it opened its doors in 1971. It also has a
shopping gallery, that is currently closed for renovation.

Best known for its Hainanese chicken rice served in its restaurant- Chatterbox. Priced at about $17, it sure is more expensive than the chicken rice you will find in our coffee shop. But it is indeed delicious.
Other items you might want to try include its specially- made Coconut ice-cream that is served in the husk of the fruit.

At this outlet, you get to watch the chef preparing food through their open-glass kitchen. Although it boosts a large area, due to its desire to maximise seats, you will find some of its tables rather closely- spaced. You may not like it if you value privacy.

However, this is make up by its pleasant decor, and now they even provide (next to your table) a small trolley with cover to place your bags.

Well its signature dish is its xiaolongbao , which indeed live up to its name. It even beat those at Crystal Jade. Another dish worth sampling is its fried rice with egg, and spinach.

Although famous for its dumplings, not all variety are worth trying. For example, you could give its vegetable dumpling a miss. Also its dumpling in soup taste almost the same as the xiaolongbao.
As for its la mian, although palatable, I still prefer those at Crystal.

Overall, it is still a restaurant that serves good food.

Goldheart is famous for its diamonds, and white gold. Said to use the shinest white gold, it is a fairly good experience to shop in their store. You will be treated to their fragrant, and sweet- tasting tea if you are a serious buyer. If you spend enough you will also be entitled to a discount card. On your birthday or special occasions, they will send you vouchers to tempt you to spend more.

However take note if you send a piece of jewellery for alteration and do not collect it within a stipulated time, they will forfeit it. And don't depend on the staff for reminders, because sometimes they may forget to call you to collect it, or you are simply not around when they do.

Although the shop space is fairly large for this outlet, but because of the many things it stock it can be a little squeezed especially when there is a crowd.

The staff at Watson's usually do not hound you excessively, so often you can browse leisurely. Most items are also at a discount. They also offer their inhouse brand but I do not think they are comparable to Guardian Pharmacy. Also I find the paper bags quality poor as they are quite thin with no handles (only a small holding space) hence it become a problem when you are purchasing bulky items.

            105. Courts (Bukit Timah)

This Courts outlet at Bukit Timah is quite large and occupy a few storeys of the building. The 1st floor is devoted to electrical goods, with the 2nd and 3rd storeys selling furniture.

I bought a bedroom set and dining table set from Courts before. The wooden dining table scratched after a few weeks. My family used wooden dining table before and no such thing occurred, so I think the problem lies with the quality of the wood. The dining chairs also became wobbly after some time.

However my bedroom set was more durable. The workmanship was fine with no sharp edges, and the drawers could be opened easily. You might find that some drawers from little-known furniture stores may not slide open smoothly so be careful of cheap furniture set.

From my experience the service here is alright.
