Well I don't really like the location of this coffeeshop it is located near Taman Jurong Market/Food Centre, but you must cross the open-air carpark to reach it. And the concrete flooring of the carpark is really in bad condition. It is rough and uneven making it very difficult to walk, and you have to watch out for vehicles. It is even worse as it gets dark since there is little lightning in the carpark.
I only go there for the Western foodstall. A favourite is the fish and chips, which uses US fish I think. It is deep fried in flour to make it really crispy and nice. The fish is soft and fresh too.
Most western set comes with french fries or their ginger rice.
The seafood spahgetti is somewhat spicy and does not taste like the Italian style. The seafood are also not plentiful, so I think it is slightly over-priced at around $5.
They only have 1 type of steak, but it is not very nice either.
The grilled chicken, however, is worth trying. And the sauce used contributed to its wonderful taste.
The lift is always spolit in this market. Pity the suppliers and delivery men who have to take the escalors with their heavy load to reach the food stalls. I heard some of the stall owners complained many times to the management and even wrote in several times to the Chinese newspaper about the lift problems, it reached a stage whereby the press rejected publishing their complaints. Unfortunately the Management doesn't do anything about it and even claimed that Taman Jurong Market has the best lift in Singapore!
There are quite a number of empty stalls due to poor business in some out-of-the-way corners. I heard the rents are quite low though.
I like the soup stall that sells a wide variety of Chinese soup in tiny claypot imported from China. Mushroom, seaweed, lotus, winter melon, black beans soup and a few others can be found here.
There is also a newly-opened nyona food stall which chicken curry is worth trying.
I know the importance of upgrading and I think Comfort has made great strides in improving its taxi services.
Improvements to laud about
1) Credit card & net payment allowed
2) Technology implemented on taxis to allow drivers to find directions from a roadmap.
3) On -call services improved to shorten waiting time. Customers no longer has to speak to operators each time they wish to call for a cab as previous pick-up location is stored, up to 2-3 locations can be saved for each phone number. You only need to key in your phone number to retrieve information, and press the accompanying digit for the desired pick-up location.
Areas I do not like
1) The newer fleet of taxi look sleeker, but I find it more difficult to alight and enter the cab due to the higher level.
2) Very confusing surcharges, fuel charges, out-of-city charges and mid-night charges... And there seem to be changing the structure every now and then.
Well like everyone else I have commuted on one of our SBS buses at some point or other in my life.
Like everyone else, I have good and bad experiences to share. Some of the bus drivers are indeed fairly kind. Once I missed the bus, and had to hail it down slightly before a traffic light, the driver actually opened the door to let me in. Often I also see bus drivers waiting for a few late comers.
However at times the drivers don't seem to familiar with the bus routes. I boarded a bus in the wrong direction, and midway during the journey I had to alight as I noticed that it was all unfamiliar landscape. I asked the driver for the correct bus but he seemed uncertain.
This is one of those 24 hours outlets, with adequate reasons to be so since it is located in an area where pubs abound.
It is a 2-storey McDonald with the order counter on the ground floor, so usually you have to carry all your orders 1 floor up. This could be fairly inconvenient especially during the peak lunch hours. The ground floor only has limited seating capacity and are mostly tall stools with a shared bar table.
The service, I notice the staff seem more polite and friendly to office/ white-collar workers and Caucasians.
