All the things sold here are slightly more expensive than those at the average Breadtalk.
It also offers a variety of freshly squeezed juices going at a couple of dollars for one.
I couldn't find the usual pastry like An- Pan... Rather they offer these stuff with a twist. The An-Pan, for example, comes with some other ingredient included but I couldn't remember what. Some of the pastry are slightly larger so of course the price is some $0.20-0.30 more.
Try the Greentea Danish pastry at about $1.50. It is crispy and not too sweet.
They also sell some pre-packed sandwich.
The service is fairly good, I remember being greeted by a polite salesgirl when I visited it one afternoon.
This is not the newly-opened NTUC supermarket that operates 24 hours. This one has been around for quite some time already.
Well located in a large shopping centre like Jurong Point, I expect it to be better than the average neighbourhood NTUC. Unfortunately, it is not so.
It is certainly fairly large, and it offers more variety but I noted that the fruits were not very fresh or of better quality. In fact, I thought those at some neighbourhood NTUC beat it in terms of freshness and quality.
The merchandise were not very well- organised. The snacks, for example, were displayed at several different places.
As for the type of goods sold, they are pretty typical.
I went to the Happy Pay Steamboat for dinner. The food was reasonably priced and had a sufficient variety. There is a selection of a wide variety of soupbases and diners were able to choose 3 so there is a choice of everybody. As for the seafood, the prawns in particular were fresh. However, I do find the dining space a tad too crowded as the restaurant tried to squeeze a group of ten unto a small table. Further, the steamboat house claimed to have no record with my reservation. AS for service, the waiters were far too busy to clear the plates and clean the table as the food piled up.
I am impressed by this Metro branch. I was in the toy section browsing for a toy, and the salesman was actually dressed in a black suit and tie. I find it a little funny though, that the sale staff in charge of the toy department has to be so formally attired.
Anyway after a toy caught my eye, I make some inquries about the price, and he was able to answer to all quires. After I decided on the toy, he walked all the way to the cashier with me.
However I do find some of the merchandise it carries more on the steep side, price- wise. For example, I stopped by its bedlinen department, and I find that all the brand it sells run into over $50-$60 just for a bedsheet set with pillowcases.
With mandatory fine for those caught eating & drinking in trains & stations, we can expect even cleaner surroundings. But then I never felt slovenliness to be a problem. On the contrary I think the lack of space in trains during peak hours is more of a pain. From observation, priority seats are also seldom given up to those they are meant for.
The handicappeds & those carrying bulk items continune to be inconvienced in many of the stations. Although lifts are usually found inside the control stations, and will take one to the train platforms. However after checking out of the turnstiles, to get out of the station they are not always lifts or even stairs.
