This is the place to be for all the IT geeks out there! Ever since I became a mobile blogger (on my macbook), I started searching for place where I get wireless connection and power source and still allows me place to relax and chill out at. More than often, I find myself sneaking at cafes trying to get my power block into their power socket...
But now, there's just the right place for me to go! Accessible via MRT at Raffles Place station. Its just a 5 mins walk from the station. The Geek Terminal is the one-stop place for all business meetings, friends gatherings, geeks get-togethers etc. They have high speed internet access and cool power lines where anyone can plug in and power up!
The cosy ambience gives you a very homely feeling. And the people are very friendly and helpful too. They serve food from morning till night. If you've got no place to go between meetings, and need a place to chill and surf, check out Geek Terminal.
Alan Photo (usually known as AP by most photog forums) is the place to get all your photography needs. From the most basic for the everyday users to the most sophsicated systems for the pros. AP has it all!
As mentioned by Kilkenny above, the place looks kinda unfriendly when you step in the first time, but once you start talking or asking things with the staff there, you'll see how knowledgable, friendly and helpful they are.
If you're looking for a new camera or lens or accessories for your photography hobby, check them out at Sim Lim Square Level 1.
Are you going mad and need a place to 'de-mad' yourself? Check out the big red building along Maxwell Road! Yes! It's the infamous red dot museum. It happens every first weekend of the month - MAAD (Market of Artists and Designers) takes place right inside red dot!
Great stuff they have there! All of the work/project on sale at MAAD are created by the artists and designers! Many cool and unique work can be found at MAAD. The crowd is great fun! You'll sure be greeted by the friendly and fun people at MAAD.
If you're around the area or wants to find a place to de-mad yourself, check out MAAD at red dot museum!
Remember! It happens only first weekend of the month! (Don't go there any of the weekend thinking that MAAD will be taking place k....)
Looking for food around VivoCity doesn't seem to be a difficult task. However, deciding what to eat can be quite a challenge! With so many choices to choose from, I got lost a couple of time. But yesterday was suprisingly easy for us. We saw a big board outside UOB promoting a One-for-one promotion at Modesto's and that's what we had for lunch.
We expected crowd at that place but to our surprise, the lunch crowd seemed to have missed this resturant. Hidden at a corner of Vivocity, its not one that many would chance upon while window shopping.
It was pizza and pasta for us girls. We ordered a regular Pizza Al Funghi (cos we thought the Mini would be terribly small) and a Spaghetti Alle Vongole.
Even though there wasn't much tables at that time, the order took quite awhile to come. I can understand why pizza takes longer time to come, but then it came before the Spaghetti! It was huge! (For the 2 of us.) We had 4 big slices of it and we didn't feel bloated cos the pizza was thin on the crust and the mushrooms on it was yummy!
The Spaghetti finally arrived while we were at our last slice of pizza. (That's abit too long for them to cook the pasta.) The look of it didn't quite attract us. And the taste was... not-so-bad. Probably cause of the pizza that was very delicious.
I would probably give the pasta a miss and just go for their pizzas. There're many other pizzas to choose from! Better go try it soon if you're a UOB cardmember! From Mon-Thur only.
Fatty Weng is definitely one of the best "zhi cha" I've tasted! I've been visiting them every now and then for about 7 years and the food still tastes as good as ever.
Unlike most "zhi cha" places, you get to dine in an air-conditioned place, which is a huge plus. Service is fast and friendly too.
As for the price, I wouldn't say it's value for money though. A dinner for two cost me $30 . It's not surprising though, as there seem to be a lot of caucasian diners here.
Was there yesterday with group of people from Ping.sg. The place was erm... brightly and cutely decorated. But I was told by some of the people there that the night ambience is better, with the lights dimmer and the crowd is usually busy at night.
I spent quite a long time looking at the menu while waiting for more people to join the group. The menu was bright and colorful. Some of the colors were kind of mismatched. And it hurts my eyes reading it. (I wonder how its like reading it in dimmer lights at night...) They do have quite a wide variety of food at very reasonable price.
I ordered the Chicken Balotine for $8.80. Added $3 for the set which comes with either a salad/soup, a drink and a dessert. Or you can op to add $6 for the dessert to be upgraded to a B&J's ice-cream, which I thought was quite ex.
After few pieces of the chicken and mushroom in my main dish, I decided to add chilli to it. Yeah, it tasted better with chilli. I thought I was just picky about it, but after awhile, I saw quite a few of the people around me reaching out for chilli too! And confirmation with them was, yeah, the food could be better. (Maybe the chief wasn't in such a good mood and it affected the quality of food. Hmm...)
I too tried their XXXL Chicken Cutlet. It tastes pretty good, but it is really oily! Just looking at them preparing it makes you feel really guilty for eating such unhealthy food.
At $3 a pop, it is not exactly cheap too. I guess it's good if you got a friend to share the serving with.
IMO, botak jones is kinda over-rated. Not that I don't like it, but I've heard so many people talking about it and how much they enjoy it and all, but then, are the food really that good?
Yeah, the serving is huge and thus its kinda value for money. The thing I enjoy when I'm at Botak Jones (twice) is reading the menu! Have to give credit to the creator of the not-so-elegant-but-fun-to-read-menu. Bring one home if you want. They have lots! And I'm sure they'll photocopy new copies when the old ones wear off.
If you're hungry for beef patty or huge sausages, you can give botak jones a try. As they say, "They really don't care."
This is one of my favourite indian food store for roti prata and teh tarik! Mainly because it is near me and my buddy's home and the roti prata here is pretty nice. But it is usually very crowded and smokers probably won't like this place, as there are only two smoking tables out of the many tables there.
Went to have dinner at this outlet this evening. Sadly, we went home w/o any food... just liquid...
Here's the story why.... We placed our order with the waitress - lobster bisque, prawn salad and bread pudding for dessert. (The bread pudding was our reason for being there.)
After checking with the kitchen, the waitress came back to inform us that the bread pudding was sold out. Disappointed, but we decided to stay for the soup and the salad.
Our table, no. 13, was next to the kitchen and we have see every order that came out. There were a couple of orders before us (all main courses) so it took quite a while for our simple soup to arrive. (45 mins to be exact. cos we were in a rush so I was eyeing my watch the entire wait.)
We drank our soup and thought our salad will come soon... however, after 10 mins, we still didn't see anything served. Then the waitress came and asked if we can change our order cause the kitchen ran out of prawns!!! WHAT?!?!?! After so long than they realised they've ran out of prawns??? We were very upset. We told her to cancel our order. When I asked for a pen from the waitress to fill up the customers feedback form, than the manager started to panic. He checked with the kitchen, and they started searching for prawns around the kitchen!
Well, it's either the kitchen staff were lazy or they didn't bother to check, cos the manager came back while I'm already 2/3 through writing my feedback on the form, saying that the can serve the prawn salad if we still want it as they've found prawns in their kitchen store!... funny isn't it?
