I love to get on SMRT Buses.. With the upgraded new Jap Designed Buses that are more eco-friendly, nicer seats, better space design and single sitters still available. Their routes are always LONG... No fiddle or shutter service for this one. I find their service extremely close to heart... The bus drivers are more casual, relaxed and graceful. I love their routes, they seem to go to most places where they used not to have MRT Train Stations and they get you there much faster then regular train rides. Bus Drivers usually skillful and fast drivers in which i find the rides very enjoyable.
Totally love the double cabin buses.. I find them more fun to seat in then double deckers and not to mention more elderly and handicap friendly too. Also love the automated text display on the top which gives timely information on the next stop, time and when the bus is arriving as well as the vocal ques on doors closing. Overall, I find SMRT or TIBS buses having better routes, bus drivers with better skill and attitudes and makes my travelling more pleasant.
Since its Service Month, I'll write a review on this UOB outlet @ Jurong Point. This outlet is pretty big i must say with a large banking hall that could accommodate at least 50 standing persons at one go.
At the entrance, you will be greeted by 4 automated tellers and a reception that made the entire branch looked like its only got the front part. The staff were helpful and you could get efficient information at this reception. If you are accessing normal banking administration like account or checking items, you could just walk in and join the queue at the main banking hall.
I was once there 5 mins early to the bank opening its doors and there is already a queue forming at the entrance. Upon entry, I still had to queue for 30 mins before its mine turn though there are only about 5 to 6 customers before me and there are 2 counters opened. One was served by a tired inefficient banking staff and another had too many questions to ask her superior. So while i waited, frustration started to build and when its mine turn.... It just took 2 mins... and I'm all done.... so i guess banking staff needs to warm up as well...
The entire branch is kept clean and facilities well maintained.. I was watching the cleaning lady doing her usual rounds and I must say she did an excellent job. Best of all, she could do her work without hindering the waiting customers be it if they are in her way or sitting on the couch she is cleaning. Excellent job i must say.
This is a shop that I've always walked past but have never been into, however this weekend I did went in and bought a few GREAT BARGAINS....
Its having sale.. 50% off regular items, though I think their casual wear is over-priced. Material is thin though comfy and designs regular, but you can really find some interesting things.
Though i'm not such a big fan of australian beach style fashion, I managed to buy a few good pieces to match with the warm weather. I've got a black single entirely fixed with sequins that Could Rock any Night Event. A white thin hang loose top with glamouring shoulders and a dark blue short loose t-shirt top with sparky words... Though the sizes are pretty hard to find (Messy sale section), I've managed to find a few sizes that are not XS or XL. These 3 glimmering tops for just $30 for 3... on top of that you get 5% discount if you are a member or holds a citibank credit card.
Checkered Shirts are going for $19.90 and long sleeves top $19.90 as well. Checked out their t-shirt and their designs are pretty interesting. I'm sure to come back for more.
Oh yar.. the guys section merchandises caught my attention too. Love the belts, the baseball caps and the capris which are made we such cooling and non-cris materials that is just right for our 365 sunny days.
Service is okay, staff is helpful though sometimes i feel that they talk to much. Check out the changing rooms.... somehow i couldn't lock the door but the good thing is you can try anything on and its spacious. The thing that awed me is that even for sales items you could still exchange them for 7 days.. Love it...
Will pop by to check out interesting stuffs but only when theres a sale.
Everybody must have been to SUNTEC Convention Centre for any kind of event. Be it the IT FAIR, Travel Fair or trade exhibitions. The Suntec Convention Centre used to be Singapore's best location for exhibitions, conference and other big scale events, though now the entire SUNTEC City is under renovation, I hope to see some improvements in many areas.
There are only 2 sets of lifts that goes up to the exhibition halls.. One on the extreme left and another on the extreme right and there are only 2 lifts per set that goes from the basement carparks all the way up to the exhibition halls. It is insufficient and not really convenient as during exhibition build-up days or IT-Fairs where there are people buying huge stuffs like TVs or LARGE Printers Etc... It is pretty inconvenient, I mean you don't expect them to take an escalator when the escalators are sooo high.. Its scary I must say. So MORE LIFTS PLEASE
The toilets at the convention level are also very sparse.. There is 2 locations per level and each location there is only about 2 to 3 cubicles. Though you can also use the toilets in the exhibition hall itself which is a long walk and difficult to locate, If you intend to house more patrons and participants, the basic needs of toilets has got to be easily reachable. The cleanliness and quality of the toilets are also lacking.
The loading / unloading bays are great i must say, we had a very good experience and smooth delivery on build up and tear down days
Food is pretty difficult to get except for restaurants, though there is something like food court downstairs, it is always crowded during lunch time or If i would say all the time especially on exhibition days. Though the choices are many, but we hardly have time to get down to queue up and get something to eat... The inhouse food at the exhibition hall cafeteria is not yummy and exceptionally expensive. If the food court downstairs could provide lunch deliveries into the exhibition hall would be great, I mean we could make advance orders as we could be so busy that we wouldn't have time to make the lunch trips downstairs.
Location is great with 2 MRTs covering the both ends of the entire SUNTEC City and shopping is easy. It is still a really good exhibition and convention centre by my standards though improvements is a must.
In my 4 years of study in NTU... This is the auditorium that I have only been to once on my very last graduating day. Its a grand theater, professionally decked with good sounds system and beautiful architecture. It feels glam, with the medium haired carpets and the matching colored plush chairs to the large foyer spaces and the quiet air-conditioning. I can recall extremely glee looking parents, proud siblings, well dressed friends and graduates decked in a robe of blue holding on to their similarly dressed graduations bears and certificates. It has many steps and an extremely high ceiling, while the excited graduates are chatting away, the noise is still quite contained. Lightings and projections though not as fantastic as some concert locations i've been to is sufficient for normal presentations and conference events.
This location has been used every year for countless graduations and student concerts as well as symposiums and presentations. The outdoor glass facade is beautiful and brings in very minimal sunlight and heat thanks to the special coating on the glass. Its a really nice place to hold your events if you are looking for a space with the capacity of a little bit over 1500. Would love to go back there again to relive the moment of graduation
I've been walking pass this SHOKUDO outlet in Bugis day after day salivating at the pictures of japanese desserts and while hanging out with the "38" aunties last night, we've decided to spend our dessert monies here.
Its a pretty casual dining cafe styled restaurant. You are practically seating by the walkway... an open concept corner space in a calming shade of beige and matcha green. While we approached the entry counter, the friendly staff kindly showed us to our seats, though its a small place, there are plenty of seats available. Its a little noisy i must say but pretty casual and good for long noisy chats with the "38" aunties club.
After a heavy dinner, we wanted something light sweet and slow eating... We've decided on something we find interesting in the menus.
The tofu cheesecake is one that blows our minds off... Its a pretty small serving for $5.80 however its creamy and cheesy... Looks like tofu on some biscuit base drizzled with raspberry sauce its rather gelatiny. I must say its something special something that bears the cheesy and creamy taste of cheesecakes and the soft gelatin texture of tofu somewhat also like creamy jello but just harder.. The taste is balanced and good to share as too much of the creamy stuff sends you off balance. Also comes in green tea (macha), red bean (azuki) flavour that comes with a ball of ice-cream.
Macha Parfait is another fabulous desserts. I love the presentation of this dessert.. In a half sized tall drinking glass you can find the cornflakes on the base layer topped by green tea jello, azuki sauce, some cream, 3 balls of mochi, one large ball of macha ice-cream, one slice of biscotti and a dollop of whipped cream. Mmmm mmm mmm..... The entire mixture is perfect as each layer is a surprise while when we mix them works so well together. The taste and texture were amazing.. Beautiful and delicious.
We could also find other nice things such as pastas, pizzas, sandwiches and burgers coupled by regular Javanese main course. So we are sure to come back to try the other dishes..
Service is prompt and staff is helpful with good recommendations of their menu especially desserts. We love the tofu cheesecake so much that we enquired to buy one whole cake which cost about $58 for one that should be ordered one day before. Sure to come back, love the food, the casual ambiance, the friendly staff and my sweet tooth!
Bring your friends, though the serving size is just right... Its good for sharing so that more dishes can be ordered.. so much to try!!!
Formerly a really old SHAW Theatre... The Shine Auditorium is refurbished with new plush seats, LED lighting, cameras, fantastic sound system and a good stage with all that is needed for drama & dance, a play, music events or even movie screenings. Being previously one of Singapore's best movie theatres has its perks. The layout and the interior architecture is created for the good sound portraying and sound proofing with plenty of space for people to move around.
I love this old theatre... though refurbished with better fixtures and more eco-friendly equipments, this place still bears the good old memories of my younger days. The entry to this theatre is mainly through the 2 service lifts whom bears a courteous sign " to patiently wait and hold the door for incoming passengers" which is one that I have not seen for a long time. Another entry or escape is by the carpark which i find a little dangerous as its round a bend and slope.
There is a toilet in the theatre itself and I find it nice, clean and there is around 10 cubicles to avoid queues. There is also speakers in the restroom in the theatre that allows you to know whats going on outside even when you are pampering yourself in the loo.
The ambiance and air-conditioning of the place is great, i find insufficient leg room for the seats however I love the railings along the seats that is both safe and helpful as a additional support. The location is pretty good... situated near to suntec city and the other end of Liang Seah street, food is easy to find, though you can always patronise the outlets at level 1, they have cafes, restaurants and even starbucks. Though the toilets at the other parts of the Shaw Building is old, they are clean and pretty well maintained, most importantly they have toilet paper in almost every cubicle though i'm shocked to find that only about 10-25% of the cubicles are seating ones.. the rest.. you have to squat...
Plenty of good food around the SHAW Centre.. My personal favourite for lunch will be the Roast Duck rice opposite the other side of the road near to Liang Seah Street... Its succulent yummy and juicy with a crispy skin.. Mmmmmm
The Star Theatre @ the Star PAC is a sophisticated theater unique in architecture and extremely environmentally friendly. With its 5000 sitting capacity and extensive high tech equipment in audio, video and production lighting systems, it is a performance venue that is both luxurious and extremely functional in bringing the best sound, audio and overall experience for any performance.
I was there on a few occasions and even for Adam Lambert's concert here in march 2013 and I love the long escalators with its patent handrails. The overall experience in entering the theater is a pleasant one. I was spoilt for choices as there are various restaurants available for dinner in this non-air-conditioned mall however upon entering the restaurant of my choice, it was well cooled with ai-con... Very green and energy saving for not cooling the corridors. After dinner we took the escalator up to the ticket sales office and up to the entrance to the theater.. i love the frosted white gates that looked so mechanical and futuristic. The carpets are new and fluffy and toilets with so many cubicles to choose from is clean and spacious. They even have some small booths that sells quick bites and drinks along the way. Spotting our seat is easy and the theater is magnificently big with airy. Seats are springy and comfortable with leg space ample. I realized that there are some round tubular things under the seats.. with close inspection, i found out that there is where the aircon comes from.. right under that seat... COOL....
The concert started without much delay and the lightings were spectacular not to mention the sound. There are lasers everywhere illuminating the whole area. Love the huge screens at the back as the projection did help me in seeing my artist perform. The sound is fantastic with clarity from the band and the concert was earth moving. The stage is huge with plenty of space for the dancers and stage deco.
While the concert ends, there are plenty of exits to avoid human jam. Leaving the hall is easy and fast and you could still get a late night snack at the F&B outlets below. Overall, its a great experience and I would love to visit this place for other shows. Great location and extremely convenient with the Buona Vista MRT East/West and Circle line just 5 minutes away.
This is where i spend all my boring evenings munching pop-corns, getting high on Diet-Coke and trashing my ears with overly loud sound effects. This theater is by the way one of the not so good GV theaters...
The seats though plushy are somewhat not very clean and i can always find pop-corns leftovers on my seat...The cup holder is almost always sticky and the floor sometimes damp. The air temperature is always colder.. well i pretty enjoy that frankly so that i can bring out my WINTER WEAR... However while i watched one movie in the afternoon, i think its the first movie screening of the day, they actually forgotten to turn on the air-conditioning... and I entered pretty late into a half filled WARM theater with sweaty patrons... after perhaps 5 mins then i can hear the humming of the air vents.
Well.. the theater is fitted with a pretty good screen though some of the movies i watch are not digital so you do still have a projector. I once watched a movie and the screen was blurred throughout the advertisements and i can actually see the shadow of the operator cleaning the lens.
I love the toilet though.. spacious and near the cinema with ample cubicles however squeaky doors which may be scary when you are watching a scary movie.
There is not much service to even talk about.. Buying tickets are quick and beverages are pretty standard stuffs... There are mostly smaller theaters and perhaps 2 larger ones and thats about it... cleanliness got to improve and patron comfort have got to be better..
i enjoyed shopping at SASA... they do carry almost everything you need on skincare, fragrances, beauty tools and accessories of many brands. Do expect the prices to be pretty similar to what you will find in the departmental stores however, they do carry some brands exclusively available to them only.
Love the neatly arranged merchandises though i think there should be more space in between racks for easy browsing however, I could always find what i wanted. There are signs and brand names stated clearly on back illuminated boards that is obvious and visually appealing. My favorite item to buy here will be the fragrances. I've got quite a few good deals here when they had some promotions, the fragrances are usually at approximately 20-30% cheaper then elsewhere. You are also allowed to taste the fragrance of your choice on tester papers.. Personally i prefer to be tested on my wrist as its a better gauge of the smell on me mixed with the fragrance of my choice. The staffs are always helpful and cheery. Generous with their skincare and fragrance testers, you could trial on anything you wish...
You can also find a good range of colours for nail polishes as well as make-up accessories and palettes which is hardly available in the malls. Great place to shop, Helpful staff though I like to be left alone to browse.. There are just so many of them and extreme helpfulness can be quite a pain sometimes...
Overall its a good retail shop that provides good service and quality range of products.
