I was hunting for some guilt-free dessert at the newly renovated Bugis which was called iluma in the past and on the cinema level, I found this BerryLite- 100% fat free frozen yoghurt. On careful consideration between the next door ice-cream parlour and its delectable creamy ice-creams and the 100% fat-free frozen yoghurt. I chose the later as I feel that we should also make the healthier choice when given a choice.
I love the setting of the place, seats are plenty with retro couch seats by the windows available as well as a good selection of international magazines with sports, travel and fashion available. They have these really cute white lamp-post they emit a pinkish hue which I feel its really interesting. The whole place is decorated with good information on the frozen yoghurt that we are going to order portrayed in a fun and joyous manner and I felt really GUILT-FREE...
So I went ahead and ordered the largest cup-size of the 3 sizes available (Blind Date (S), Hook on it (M), I LOVE IT (L)) and you could choose between Plain yogurt or flavored ones which is about 30cents more. The flavors available to me on this day that I went are: cheesecake, mango and blueberry acai. Of course choose the Highest Antioxidant One- the blueberry acai. You have a good selection of fresh and healthy toppings as well such as fresh pomegranate, aloe vera and many other fruits and nuts. For me, I'm the Plain Jane! I feel that a good cup of frozen yogurt needs no condiments. And so there I am tasting my cup of blueberry acai frozen yoghurt without frills...
I was pretty shocked by my first mouthful. The yogurt is creamy but not sweet at all.. Matter of fact, its sourish in a very fruity way and gives me impression that I am drinking some very concentrated freshly crushed blueberry and acai berry juice. That very same acidic experience when you drink non-diluted freshly squashed fruit juices. I cannot but got to browse at the information on the wall of the frozen yogurt and I agree with a few things like, no sugar added to enhance taste, live cultures to aid digestion.
The surprise is when I get home, I get the very active bowel movement feeling and did what i need to do by my shiny white throne, which is the same feeling I had when I at one time ate one whole box of fresh blueberries. Its not the allergic reaction but the after consumption of highly anti-oxidant fruit reaction. My friend who also had the same yogurt had the same reaction. So both of us agree that this yogurt is indeed the REAL THING...
The real, no frill, healthy, 100% natural frozen yogurt.. I would suggest go for the super high anti-oxidant POTENT Blueberry Acai flavor. Its yummy, natural and full of goodness!
Get prepared to be smacked by whiffs of horse sweat at The Singapore Polo Club. I was there with a few friends hoping to catch some good old POLO action and boy did we enjoy ourselves.
The Verandah is an alfresco dining area where you can enjoy the vast greenery, bask in a cool evening sun and watch the games on the field. They have a good selection of premium wines which are not too costly, chilled to its best and they also have a good range of snacks and finger food to choose from.. Premium ingredients are used and I always feel that the quality of the food could usually judged by the basics served.. Meaning.. if you wanna know if the expensive stuffs are good.. you go for the cheap ones first.. like french fries, onion rings and the other regular stuffs.. I mean if these basic regulars are not done well, then don't expect the difficults like roast pork or premium steaks to taste as good.
But, their fries, calamari, onion rings tasted delicious. I say this not because I am too high on wine or too hungry. The fries is crispy and juicy yet not oily, calamari is of a good bite size, not too dry and the batter is well seasoned with a pinch of pepper, onion rings are crispy and sweet.
They also have a good range of mains to choose from. Like beef stew, Ox tail which is flavorful with a good portion, burgers which is superbly huge and extremely yummy. Salmon fillets, seafood platters, beef steaks which are carefully prepared and tasted fresh, sweet and served in a good portion. I mean they have to serve them in a good portion as the polo players must be really hungry after the game.
Dessert is great as well, though not many choices available. Theres always movenpick ice-cream if you really crave for something sweet yet you do not want a proper dessert. Beers on the tap include the all time favorite Stelle Artois and Kilkenny.
The location and setting is excellent especially with the games going on from late afternoon till dusk while you sip your sweating bottle of chilled wine, tucked comfortably at the corner with a gentle breeze in your face, accompanied by your beloved friends chit-chatting about nothingness while watching cute strong men in horses, galloping around playing the manly chauvinistic game of POLO... I mean what could be better then this!!!
I was most impressed not just by the cute strong muscular polo chaps but by the after game cultures.. After walking the horses back, the players and their family members will hang by the field, patching back the divots or holes in the ground and unevenness on the fields together, chit-chatting, playing and having a great time while maintaining the ground for the other players.. Its courtesy and a good time to bond with friends and other players. Some bring their dogs which most definitely had a great time running the VAST field pretending they are one of the stallions.
If you wanna find a knight in a white stallion... Look NoWhere Else!! Find it NowHere!
Mondays to Fridays, open to public and Tues and Thurs, sometimes Friday you might get to see the games... be a damsel and get whiffed off by some horse sweat smelling knight in a white stallion...
Oh yeah! the horses looked great.. matter of fact I took some picture of the horses butt... because I could never get them to face me..... they are always too fast too fast toooo fast......
Biggest Burgers I've ever come across in a fast food joint. I was always impressed by the quantity and quality of the food served in Carl's Junior. There I was taking an early long brunch break on a rainy working day, what caught my eye is the S$7.90 great promotional lunch which included a selected burger of your choice, medium fries and refillable medium sized drink. It was really a good deal, judging by the size of the burger and fries.
I guess the burger is about one and a half times larger then the regular burgers we eat in other similar joints. Its more of the gourmet burger type with huge succulent beef patties, choice vegetables, onions and cheese.. I especially enjoy the chilli burger. This chilli i mean is not the spicy hot red chilly but the mexican ground beef chilli sauce. I find it rather flavorful and extremely appetizing. The chips are great as well; fresh, juicy and not overly littered with salt, crispy on the outside yet not dry on the inside.
I love the refillable self-serve drinks bar also. I think the concept is great and they have a good choice of carbonated drinks as well as ice-tea in which slices of lemons are available at the side for your own adding pleasure. Next to the self-serve drink bar is the self-serve condiment and salsa bar where you can find a good variety of pickles, chopped salsa and salsa sauce as well as chilli sauce and ketchup for your personal seasoning pleasure.
I love the fact that they provide serviettes on the table from a dispenser. I mean it could be rather messy eating a huge burger and as much as we save the trees with lesser consumption of tissues and paper, we also appreciate the use of recycled materials for these serviettes.
I was most impressed by the attentiveness and service of the staff in this outlet. The tables were cleared promptly and tray removed as and when the customers do not want them anymore. I was also impressed by the management team of this outlet. While I was there, the outlet do look a little short staffed and 2 gentlemen in smartly ironed shirts were doing some administrative work, however as the crowd picked up, they rolled up their sleeves and moved around the tables to clear the rubbish, deliver food and say HI and GOODBYE to the customers. I was both touched and impressed...
This is definitely a great place to hang out with your friends for a long chit-chat while you enjoy the always yummy cheesy fries, Oreo Ice Cream or the forever enjoyable HANDMADE MILK SHAKES which i find particularly delicious for a dessert. The choice seats I would say is by the ceiling high windows where the benches are well cushioned and natural sunlight streaming in while you are cooled by the air-conditioning of the mall.
Value Food, Choice Ingredients, Great Service and Cute Staff.....
A real interesting hang out place. Kungfu paradise at the newly renovated bugis which used to be called iluma is now frequented by many especially youths and hip-adults. They serve the standard char chan teng kind of food like curry rice, baked pasta, coffee and french toast. They taste like the usual however I really love the kungfu boy mascot...
They also do have some really funky drunks n desserts to choose from. If you visit this outlet I will recommend sitting by the full sized glass window seats. First the cushion is comfy and you will get to see shoppers walking around. The other seats I find are a little too noisy and not good for chit chat with friends. Oh yah... I tried their french toast and they served it to me with a huge full bottle of maple syrup. I really love the generosity however, service is almost nonexistent as I think the place might be too big to notice who needs what....
Great concept and nice place but nothing in the menu is exciting....
The wheelhouse serves the bestest fish and chips i've ever eaten. The Fish is huge and fried with a good batter. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and not oily, served with a generous side salad and lots of pipping hot fries and good size of tartar sauce.
If you happen to be there, also a must try is the thai fried fish.. The serving is sooo huge and good for two. The meaty fish is fried till its sooo crispy that you could laterally eat all its fins and bones. Paired with a tasty sauce and some rice as well as the famous thai mango salad... its simply delicious carp.....
If fried food is not your kind of food, you may also go for the local delicacies like Hor Fun or Fried Noodles, Fried Rice, etc.. The other die die must try is the Lamp Stew.. Succulant lamb braised in a thick savoury stew eaten with some bread and a little bit of potato mash.. The lamp simply melts in your mouth and the stew leaves a sweet aftertaste and does not have the muttony taste at all. I love the vegetables like potato, carrots, turnip cooked in the stew best.. It fully absorbs the yumminess of the stew and is soft and creamy when chewed on.
I also love the butter / garlic naan , chicken curry, beef curry and mutton curry.. Its nice... and a type of comfort food for me. The indian spices are generous and very tasty... However, go with some water instead of sweet juices or wine or pair it with some yoghurt.. That is how i think goes well with a good naan and curry dishes.
After Dinner, have a good glass of wine or beer and start having their wonderful desserts. Choose from a light slice of strawberry short cake or tiramisu or even local desserts such as the chendol and the oh sooo funky bobo cha cha! The Old School Sago with gula melaka and coconut cream is simply DIVINE!!! A really old school dessert and their serving portion is sooo good.. I love the chewy sago and the Carmella taste of the gula melaka topped with creamy coconut milk....
If desserts are too heavy, opt for a good scoop of movenpick ice-cream, smooth, simple and calorie mindful. The Wheelhouse also serve a good variety of buffet, international choices of food, eat till you drop with a salad bar, juices and ice-cream.
Set by the swimming pool, a level below the lobby, the wheelhouse also serves snacks and smoothies for the good afternoon after swim recharge.. I'm most amused by the waiter.. which still wears a BOWTIE... and I find that really cute.. Its more of a homely, easy going setting.. Expect service with a smile and expect local style serving attitude.. It somehow feels extremely singaporean dining in this place. I love the ambiance, the food, the friendliness and the price is reasonable.
Great place to dine out at however you really need to be brought in by a member... Or be a member today!
I was at Changi Terminal 3 public area recently and was surprised by the number of great food selection there. In the past, there was only the food court and a few miserable overpriced restaurants, but now, things are different. They have a good variety of restaurants such as fast food, Chinese cuisines, Japanese Ramen restaurants, Coffee & toast cafes, Butter Studio Cupcake shops, Carl's Junior, Crystal Jade, Dian XiaoEr, and even Durian Empire. The prices and food menu is very much the same as what we eat in town. Not much an increase of change of menu.
Shopping has also increased in varieties. Now they have Cotton On for some last minute clothe purchase, shoes at BATA if you feel your footwear is not so comfy, Giordano for I LOVE SG t-shirts which make great gifts for your overseas friends, Home Fix if you forgot to bring your handy torch or even KidzTime.... They now have almost everything required.. even Telco's set-up shops in Terminal 3... which i feel is all geared up to be used full fledged once the budget terminal phases out in September.
The thing i don't really like about terminal 3 is the confusing carpark area... I just feel that its confusing and sometimes we would like to park nearer to the entrance to the mall/public area to facilitate children or old people. Its hard to find the mall area in the carpark because its not too well lit and signage are few and hard to spot. When you get there, most of the space are already taken up and poor grandma... she really have to take her time to crawl there and the carpark is soooo huge.. by the time she did so..... we could already have finished our meal.
The lifts and decorations are great in the mall. Brightly lit with greenary and sophisticated electronic buttons for lifts and other electrical fixtures. The toilet is clean but i've been to much cleaner airport toilets. I also feel that airport toilets should be like hotel toilets... as airports are our first and last impressions to our invaluable overseas guest. The toilet sign in T3 looks fabulous and the setting of the wash basin, sensor tap with hand wash, hand dryer, tissue for cleaning your hand all at one spot and not forgetting full length mirror for that last check to make sure you don't walk out with a trail of toilet roll stuck to your heels.
I should say.. its not the World's BEST Airport I've been to but it sure is one of the FEW BETTER AIRPORTS... It has everything we need and does not cost much more then the regular city retail prices, transport to the airport is convenient, quick and not too pricey. However service is still not so good though I've met pretty friendly airport staff, yet not so handicap or elderly friendly Eg. like wheelchairs are not easily and readily available...
This is dedicated to our good friend who have yet to taste the mystifying revolutionized bubble tea from Gong Cha...
Many would have observed the large number of students, office workers, tourist and casual diners hanging around this Gong Cha outlet.. They are actually waiting for their number to be called to receive their carefully concocted, mixed, shaken and pearls/jelly/bits of yummy stuffs added in, heat sealed in an air tight plastic container drink.
All you have to do is to choose the kind of drink you would like to order, decide on the level of sweetness you would like (100% / 80% / all the way to 20%) and make payment at the cashier, then you get to stand around and wait for your number to be called.
There are many great flavors and are all exciting to try, however, you might prefer regular flavors, I would say, they make the regular common flavors taste yummy. I particular like the Winter Melon Gong Cha with cream on top with pearls and sprinkling of green tea powder. The cream is a little salty when tasted on its own, however it goes so well with the winter melon tea. Pearls are chewy and does not lump together, a little honey taste and they give a good amount as far as dessert is concerned.
They even have earl gray milk tea or oolong milk tea, but the other one I love is the Lemon Roast Melon Tea... it has bits of Roasted Lemon in the tea, both a little zesty sour yet full of flavor.. One Cup of such Tea is great for curbing both your sweet tooth and thirst...
So dear friend.. its time to revolutionize your taste buds.... Pick up some courage, buy yourself and US a cuppa Trendiness.... Get HIT by the wave of HIP Tea Drinking.....
Bao Today 包今天 is not Justice Bao 包青天。 I was hoping to find a judge or a bao that is almost totally black with a crescent moon, however i fail to find anything like that! But what is really nice is the half baos.... They look like naked baos without their caps on.. or more like botak baos when all you can see top down is the filling of succulent meat, egg and mixed veg sitting on a round bao skin. Here is all the filling you can have without filling yourself silly with the excessive carbohydrate rich bao skin.
Out of the many other dim sum items we ordered, I love the fried carrot cake best, its crispy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside without the excessive oil on the outside. The Belly Pork Bun is also yummy. The Belly Pork not too fatty and sauce savory and well spiced. BBQ Pork noodle is of a good portion with fried wanton and wanton soup with succulent prawns, however i find the noodles a tad too salty.
Seating is tight... If you are with a big group, this is not the place to go. Service is almost non-existent however, the food is pretty decent so, during meal times it is still packed. I feel like a sardine seating in for a meal and what more by the walking area, though i enjoy watching shoppers salivating at my food, I am also afraid of running toddlers banging onto my table with hot soup and coffee. Seat are not comfortable, so I will only recommend takeaway, however that is not advisable as well as food ain't yummy if its soggy. So.... GO ALONE... or at most bring one friend........
If you desire the creamy texture on a smooth crispy butter cup of an egg tart yet feeling bored with the plain egg tart flavor, then be blown away by the savory and sweet egg tarts from fancy delight.
I was pretty skeptical about trying their egg tarts at first as i always thought egg tarts are like soda drinks... They only taste good in their original flavor and only when it is sweet. The green pandan flavored tart, double chocolate brown coloured tart and the pinkish jam centered tarts look rather unusual to me, however on receiving a half a dozen of these tarts in a box made me change my mind.
I tried the cheese egg tart, which is more savory then sweet and find it rather enjoyable. The creamy filling infused with generous melted cream cheese is simply heavenly. I love the mushroom & cheese as well as the black pepper chicken flavored ones. The butter pastry cups that holds the entire tart together goes very well with the savory fillings and simple melts in my mouth.
The sweet ones are yummy too.... I tried the chocolate chip which tasted just of the right sweetness and fused with the egg tart filling well. The blueberry jam one i had is a tad too sweet for my taste however i still finished it all. Last I ate the original flavored one.. Original tasted creamy, thick and smooth. It is of the right texture, not too watery or thick and hard like most traditional egg tarts. I love it when it looked a tad toasted with sugar on the top.. somehow.. caramelized sugar makes anything looks and taste good.
Meanwhile, there is not much to the shop in this outlet. I walk pass it almost often and location is great for take away as it is on the same level as the link way to the MRT station. Grab some tarts and some frozen yogurt and perhaps some really fine bread down the hallway... Meanwhile, they have so many other flavors..... I think I will need to run more so that I can try them all....
A fabulous dinner place with a great choice of food to choose from and all at a super value for money price.
It was a girls day out and while strolling through the many restaurants at Millenia Walk, we pass by this very small counter next to TCC, we were warmly greeted by the counter staff there. While we were issued charge cards, we walked into a so much larger dining hall with open concept kitchen, flaming pans and the aroma of grilled meat with sweet spices.
There were so many choices of cuisines you could choose from; spanish tapas, kababs, skewered meat, turkish rice dishes, sandwiches in panini, pizza, salad and so much more. The portion is pretty decent and some may feel big.... Wash it down with more then 100 choices of beer from all over the world. While I was there I was thrilled to see their One for One offers. You can have One for One for any kinds of bottled beer (till 8pm), sandwhich is also going one for one, and skewered meat as well.... Usually such offered are only valid on a weekday, however.. which I was there on a saturday evening... I get this special offer as well.
Dessert is also fabulous, though not many choice to choose from, you get the essential yummys.. Like Crepe and Ice-Cream, Brownie, Chocolate churros, ice-creams with waffles and other cakes. I would suggest go for the weekday high-tea... They serve a good array of sweets and savouries in a beautiful dual layered serviing plate.
They have both indoor and outdoor alfresco seats which are well ventilated with fan and great for evening drinks. Last i checked.. no mozzies and dust from the nearby road. Services was overly friendly... The staff was attentive, friendly and provided many good information. Basically, you get more than what you ask.. and before you could ask.. what you need is served....
A great place to hang out with your friends and family.. Big groups are okay here as there is ample seats.. however the crowd does come in during dinner time, so be sure to make reservations. Interesting colourful array of menu, drinks and deco.
Oh.... about the damages.. First there is no service charge and service is super great, then i ordered a one for one sandwich (ham & cheese / Roast Beef served with fries and tossed salad) which i couldn't finish and it cost me a good $13.80. Bottled german beer about one pint per bottle $15 and its one for one. Skewered meat and skewered muchroom one for one $12.80. Spanish seafood in a cute cone looking clay plate with Spanish rice $18.90.
It seems like I will be coming here more often.....
