Having a bar/cafe in the heartlands has given us another hangout other than 24hr macdonald. It was used to be beside the crocodile farm, and now it has shifted to the opposite side.
They serve side dishes, main course and desserts. Dont miss the brownie when you are there. They serve the brownie warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. Yea, it is the same as other places, but somehow, the ice cream and the brownie blend in so well in the mouth. Gotta try that!
The food is good without a doubt. My favourite in crystal jade has always been their porridge. Its a plain dish yet they can do it so well.
Sadly, the crystal jade in J8 is disappointing. On my both visits (thought we ought to give them 2nd chance), the drinks were served after the food came, and to add to our displease, we waited very long for the food. I dont mind waiting if the place was packed, but we went before the dinner crowd came.
The servers there tend to talk among themselves (right in front of us). During our 2nd visit, we could still see and hear their arguement over the food serving.
The other crystal jade i had patronised (toa payoh & suntec) has no such problems (and the restaurant size is way bigger). If you wish to dine in CJ J8, you may want to think twice.
Mala steamboat ! There are a number of shops along the same street selling similar food. And I have tried some of them, still this one is my favourite.
Firstly, the deco gives me a comfortable feel. Second, the mala soup base is good. Third, its buffet style! The waiter will pass you the menu and all you need is to indicate the no. of plates you want for that item.
The mala soup base comes with fried diced chicken. While waiting for the soup base you may savour the spicy chicken which is crispy on the outside and tender at the inside.
The waiting time (for the food) will be quite long (15, 20min) so is a better idea to order before your first serving is finished. And if you arrive when th restaurant is full, be prepared to wait for 45min to 1hr.
Be prepared for the lunch crowd and the afternoon sun, try to be there earlier to park your car, else you would have to walk a long way to the infamous stall.
$2 for a lunch is VERY reasonable, i mean, its hard to find places selling a bowl of noodles at $2. The portion of the noodles is abit little IMO, but as I stress again, its just $2. The chilli is good!
On my first visit to the salon, i was being served by the director. He was frank with his comments, and recommend me solutions to improve the condition. He also did a bob cut for me and i love it to bits! The style falls nicely without any blow-dry needed. The service, i dare say, is comparable to top-notch salons in town area.
