Sun Moulin is located just beside the Isetan Japanese Supermarket at Lido. My food partner and i went there after our lunch at Tetsu. I believe those who frequent the supermarket will need no introduction to this delightful bakery.

There are quite a wide range of breads, pastries, and cakes around, with prices ranging from 1 to 2 bucks, quite similar to your more commonly found Breadtalk and Four Leaves.

I was so full from the lunch at Tetsu, but my food partner is amazing, she brought quite a few home!

She has tried almost all the bread and pastries at Sun Moulin, so below are some of the ones which she highly recommended.

    Soft An-pan ($2)
The soft An-pan is actually more familiar to most of us as the red bean paste bun. But at Sun Moulin, they use Hawaiian Bread dough. Soft and fluffy!

    Belgian Waffle ($1.30)
The Belgian Waffle caught my attention first because i’m a sucker for good waffles. And at $1.30 its definitely worth a try, even though the waffle might be a little small in size. It will be excellent if you managed to get them hot off the pan.

    Zebra Mini Croissant
There are a few selections of Croissant here, with $0.65 for one, $1.80 for 3, and $2.70 for 5. Naturally the more you get the cheaper it is.

    Petit Sesame Croissant
Crispy layer of dough, with black and white sesame.

    Mini croissant
Mini-size croissant, try the original taste!

    Mini Choc Croissant
Your mini croissant now comes in chocolate flavour!

    Double Taste Bun ($2)
Enjoy 2 kind of home-made taste, chocolate and custard cream inside.

My food partner got the double taste bun for me, and boy the bread is really good! Peeling off part of the bread, fills my nose with aroma of the warm chocolate and custard cream.

The bread is super soft, and its delicious even eaten on its own!

Total bill for 5 items were $9.10. I only tried one of the bread, and i’m already thinking of going back to Sun Moulin for more! My plan is to go there on an empty stomach, then order a lot of different bread to have them for lunch!

Sun Moulin’s bread are definitely better than your typical bakeries (you-know-what), and the prices are also in about the same range with the most expensive bread at 2 bucks.

    BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOODY HELL.

One big bloody proof I DO NOT have to stay there to know their SERVICE SUCK!

Yesterday I called the hotel because my mom's friend from Taiwan wants to stay there because of her seminar that is there.
(SEE? You hold a seminar there and can't bloody stay there!)

SO, I called the main line, some friendly lady said "hold the line" nicely, and she'll trans me to the reception (because I wanted to ask if there is vacancies for 11th - 13th)

    I waited, and HUNG UP!
COS I WAITED FOR BLOODY 20 mins and I finish watching an episode of Naruto!

I called again, same nice lady, and finally I got through the reception desk.
Another nice lady greeted and asked "May I help you?"

    I asked,
"I just want to check if there is any room vacancy for 2 regardless twin or singles on the 11th TO 13th."

THE LINE WENT BLANK, she went ERRR, and the background was like:

"I don't know what the b*tch was saying." (IN CHINESE)

!@#@#$#%%%% I AM A BLOODY CHINESE AND THEY DARE SAY THAT IN THE BACKGROUND WHEN I CAN HEAR???!!!!

and obviously they are PRC cos singapore service line is floooooooded with PRCs.

So, another PRC, i suppose is her superior, answered:

"What's wrong?" in an assertive tone... (WTF???!!!)

Me: "EERM! You prefer me to speak chinese right?"

ok and i went on repeating every thing in mandarin, and I was yelled it:

    "MAN LE! (Full house!)"
    and she slammed.

I didn't bother to feedback, cos i knew it will be IGNORED!

I told my mom, she insisted she was lying, cos her boss which has a travelling agency says if book thru him, will have vacancy.

SO I TRRIED ALL OVER AGAIN.

    SAME!

SORRY TO BLAST IT ALL OUT here but I guess there is no other place for me to comment.

Just to emphasize, I am not xenophobic and I absolutely love my PRC colleagues while I was working a shortwhile in Lunar.
They are so adorable and caring, sometimes very slow but if I taught them patiently they listened...they cat fight against each other but not me and took care of me like a little girl (though sometimes we know more cos of our command of languages and dialects).

OK, I DO LOVE some PRCs, I am not here to yell at them as a whole, but why do you put PRCs on your reception desks and none can comprehend English, when it is the most used language? Wha I PITY the angmohs. and the PRCs don't even seem to be trained to understand basic English except the greetings.

So they are there to LITERALLY answer phones to make sure it is answered n call ppl "ba puo" or "po niang" (both means B*tch)?

I don't even want my mum's friend staying there.
I hope a Hotel Royal management personnel reads this.

    I AM VERY ANNOYED.
I BLACKLISTED THE HOTEL on my own BLACK LIST.

The teppanyaki and steampot itself was good, not fantastic but good, the variety of food wasn't a lot, maybe because it was weekday lunch, we went on a promo that every 2 person get 2 cups of free ICE CREAM GOO.

FYI: Yuki Yaki is also famous for its Ice-cream teppanyaki. YES YOU FRY THE DAMN ICE CREAM GOO.

Sounding so gooooooooooooood, my friends and I went there after deciding to skip class.

We couldn't finish the food and it says no food wastage, so we dumped everything like fried rice and took on games to stuff food into the loser.

After that comes the climax. Ice-cream frying.

Excitedly we discussed about what flavours we want so that we won't have a repeat.

    We had:

    1) Green Tea:
Looks like pea vomit, smells like green tea with toooooooooooo much milk. (YUCKS)

    2) Durian:
Looks like mango/orange cream, smells like durian from the garbage 10days ago.

    3) Chocolate
Looks like chocolate, taste like cheap china chocolate, but actually the best flavour of all.

    4) Orange Sherbet
Looks like Orange juice, smells like orange juice your mum left you 3 days ago.

    5) Strawberry
Looks like Pink goo, smells like sneeze from a bad breath uncle, taste like that too. Had a hard time gettin rid of that taste in the mouth.

    6) Grape
Looks purple, smells like grape soda, taste like grape soda, bundung style in a bad way :(

7 & 8) After the terrorising taste test, we GAVE UP. and took only 2 more chocolates.

AND IN THE END, we got those free flow drinks like coke, apple soda, orange juice and put it on the cold plate, TASTED SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ICE CREAM GOO MIX.

Yea so do that next time, forgo the mixes.

Fun only in the frying which sticks in really easily, we cleaned by secretly turning the heat back on to melt ice, pour water in and drained it out thru the catch at the side...so it wasn't so bad.

Brain Freeze. For the fun: AVERAGE 3 STARS.

Don't know why I forgot to review this.

Yes it's much more spacious, not as smelly, there is bar with cheap booze, classic rock music, waiting time not so bad, service still as good, loads of sauce and condiments...

Food slightly declined, toilet stinks (not their fault), argh....guilty of craving sometimes.

I was a fan of Annalakshmi since 2 years back when it was operating in Excelsior Hotel.

Because of their unique concept, (BELIEVE IT!) you really can pay what you want to pay them, more like a donation.

Money goes to some cultural center in India and etc.....

You must be thinking that they must be a shobby restaurant with rotting tables and stained tablecloth and serves food in only banana leaves.

    WRONG.

Service better than many A-List restaurants, as clean as your own home, cosy like your mom's place (used to be big with many artefacts but cost reductions...) soft ethnic Indian music, quite a decent variety of choices, RESTAURANT STANDARD CUISINE.

**NOTE**: I USED THE WORD CUISINE.

I brought my boyfriend there to PROVE that we don't need to slurge to get good food in a restaurant as a bet, he thought the place would be dirty, to his amazement, the place...not so fantastic that you can call it a date, but it's one of those days when you care tight on cash but still spoiled to want good filling food, GO TO ANNALAKSHMI.

Not trying to be a cheapo here, once it just saved my bloody life. No bloody money but still spoiled. My 2 friends and I only paid $15 for the food. Well it's all vegetarian so, it's not that bad, well that's I could afford.

A few things u need to tahan when you are there:

    1) REMEMBER TO CALL TO RESERVE.
    - and remember to call back to make changes or the aunty will be damn fierce.

    2) I recommend you go during Mon-Thurs after 6.30pm for dinner ala carte cos more selection and you order what you want, not take from buffet spread which is on weekends that people take and make the spread look REALLY GROSS (plus little selection).

    3) Seldom the cutlery is slightly dirty so be nice and tell them about it cos this place, you don't pay GST you got almost no right to KB.

    4) Don't waste food.

    5) Upon payment at the entrance, tahan then same old aunty who takes reservations, tahan her scrutiny at your stinge, it seems it's never enough whenever whoever pays. Bravely say how much u are paying for how many people, and TAHAN when she slams the receipt at you.

The only bad thing abt this place, GET THROUGH THE RESERVATIONS, ENTERING, PAYING, and everything else will be heavenly.

    Highly recommended:

    1) Annalakshmi Special (Drink)
Yoghurt like drink that is VERY THICK, orange and honey like, need to mix alot of water for me.

    2) Annalakshmi Special (Fried Rice)
Very nice fried rice with bits of spices and those colourful bits you get in those fruit wedding cakes you get when you go for chinese weddings.

    3) Gobi Manchurian
Cabbage Fritters that taste like SWEET and Sour Pork chinese kind. (WARNING: Sometimes they serve it soggy, u cant complain.)

That's all, u got to try to believe it :)

    4 and a half STARS.

The yoghurt craze is catching on in Singapore with the opening of yoghurt outlets like Frolick and Yoguru. The former currently has 3 outlets in Singapore whereas the latter only has one.

Located in the still sleepy Kallang Leisure Park, Yoguru has a steady following of fans who swear by the brand's fat free yoghurt which comes in 2 varieties - original and YoguBliss, with the latter comprising of dragonfruit and pomegranate in the mixture. Prices start at $3.30 for a regular cup of original yoghurt to $7.90 for a jumbo take home container. Prices for the YoguBliss are slightly higher, at $3.80 for a regular and $9.30 for a jumbo. Toppings start at $1.20 each. Definitely not cheap.

Not being a fan of dragonfruit or pomegranate, I had a go at the original with toppings of diced strawberries. To be honest, I'm never liked yoghurt because my tolerance for sour stuff is minimal so it came as quite a surprise that I could actually finish up a whole cup of Yoguru's yoghurt by myself. The yoghurt is much sweeter than any of the other brands of yoghurt that I've tried and the smooth creamy texture reminds me more of ice cream, which is totally different from what you can get from NTUC or Frolick for that matter.

I like the idea of fat free pseudo ice cream with a sourish tinge enough to continue my patronage.

    feizhu feizhu says:

Attended a wedding tasting lunch at Hilton courtesy of my friend who will be tying the knot later this year.

Well not much can be said about the interior because it was held in one of the function rooms which are named after countries, with this particular one being Singapore.

Complimentary Bread - It was a unanimous decision. The bread was good. Served up warm, it exuded a mild fragrance together with a nice crackling sound when I broke off a piece to savour. The soft yet fluffy dough complemented with a thin layer of salted butter was enough to make us request for seconds. And for the record, I had 5 buns, which is definitely a first for me in such situations.

Gazpacho - I'm honestly not a fan of tomato soup, even more so chilled tomato soup, so I didn't quite take to it. And neither did anyone else around the table. But I personally felt that it could have been stronger on the taste as it did seem a little runny to me.

Madras Long Grain Rice with Raisin and Almond -
The good thing about long grain rice is that the grains stay seperate and fluffy after cooking, which was the case in this dish. When eaten with the almond slices and raisins, it made for a nice and light (healthy as well!) rice dish. A pity there weren't enough almonds or raisins to go around so there was quite a bit of rice leftover.

Roasted Stuffed Duck on Sauteed Sweet Cabbage with Mustad Cream - Ironically, the star of this dish wasn't the duck but the cabbage, which was sauteed to the right softness and flavourful. The duck on the other hand, wasn't exactly duck per se. According to the chef, a mixture of minced chicken, walnut and spinach were used to make the stuffing which was then rolled with a layer of fatty duck skin with some duck meat attached. The result? A highly chewy duck skin which was almost impossible to cut through, probably due to the amount of fats under the skin. The stuffing was still decent though but the skin really spoilt the whole dish.

Sea Bream with Roots Vegetables in Saffron Cream - The aesthetics of this dish proved to be the sole consolation for this dish, which is sad really. Huge portions aside, the fish meat was seriously tough and I was left wondering if it was really fish because the texture said otherwise. The saffron cream sauce was also a tad weak and it didn't help that the fish itself was rather bland.

Smoked Chicken Breast with Fresh Poached Prawn & Spicy Mango Salsa - I'm sorry but wheres the spice? The diced mangoes were sinfully sweet and had nary a taste of spice. As for the chicken breast, it had but an ever so faint trace of smokiness, which I would definitely have missed if I had eaten it with the mangoes. A longer smoking time would definitely be appreciated.

Hilton's Famous Cheesecake - Hilton has every right to be proud of its cheesecake because its really in a class of its own. Lightly moist and extremely cheesy, this classic American cheesecake is good enough to make me throw any diet plans out of the window. If you prefer the lighter chiffon variant, I would suggest you steer clear of Hilton's offering and head down to Cheesecake Cafe instead.

A good start and a good ending. Hilton just needs to fill up the hollow center. Thanks for the invite!

Friendly staff, great service, lasting colors!

My mum has never tried pedicure before, hence I decided to bring her for a pedicure session on Mother's day. I've passed by Scratch many times and always wanted to try their service. Called them few days before mother's day and managed to get an appointment set for Mum and myself in the evening of Mother's day.

The salon is very big and spacious. Brightly lighted by the natural light coming from outside. The place is kept clean and to the minimum. And the furnitures used are from Ikea. Another thing that's close to my heart.

The lady who attended to me is very outspoken and friendly. She's the supervisor of the place. If I'm not wrong, her name is Claire. She's very detail during the pedicure process. And she'll share tips on keeping our feet nice and healthy. The entire process was enjoyable and filled with giggles and laughter. She sure knows how to make her customers happy. And the final outcome of my feet was smooth and the nail coating on my toes were perfectly flawless! It looks like a new coat even after more than 2 weeks!

As it was Mum's first time doing a pedicure after more than 40yrs. And with her daily standing and soaking of feet in water, her feet has always been hard, peeling and dry. She has got very bad cracks on her leg too. After the pedicure and a spa wrap (in white chocolate!!), her feet is as smooth as baby's feet! She loved it so much, she couldn't stop feeling and touching her own feet after the session!

We were both very satisfied with their service and has signed up for their 6-sessions of pedicure. Looking forward to going back again soon.

This is one place we frequent when we dine at Ang Mo Kio. This outlet of Ramen Ten has been around for many years, and they've been constant with their food standard and service all these while.

Everytime I go, I'll order the same dish, the same drink and almost 90% of the time, I'll be sitting at the same table too! Ha!

My favorite from the menu is the Super Spicy Ramen that's served with minced chicken and lots of chili padi! When I'm hungry, I'll add $2 to get the big bowl (extra noodles). I'm a fan of spicy food and this one gives me the kick everytime I eat it! And to cool off the spiciness, I'll drink their homemade barley (cold).

Nice place with reasonable pricing and friendly service staff. Of course, I'll be going back again whenever I've got cravings for spicy ramen! :)

Cafe Domus is a hidden treasure which I simply adore! The location makes it special and unique in its own way.

Located along stretch of retro shop houses, the entrance to Cafe Domus may look simple and modern, but what's hidden within is a paradise for friends to chill and great photoshoots too!

I love the simplicity of the design and the clever use of its existing landscape to create a backyard that is so unlike the usual Singapore hangouts.

This is one place to go to chill and catch up with a group of friends.

*Anyone keen to do a photoshoot there? I want to do it!
