This Korean dessert shop are co-founded by Seo Eunkwang from Korean boy group BTOB. The design of the place is simple yet feels comfortable.
And by far, this is the nicest bingsu u I’ve had. As usual, it’s the condensed milk shaved ice and we had the Oreo flavoured bingsu. Usually what I had at other BingSu stalls are very strongly or I would say, overly-flavoured condensed milk flavour for the shaved ice, such that it’s too sweet and easy to get sick of the whole bingsu after a few mouths.
Personally I’m not a fan of condensed milk so this BingSu suits me really well with the moderately-flavoured shaved ice, paired with the generous proportion of Oreo crunches and biscuits. The ice are also finely shaved and absorbs the flavour well that the whole bingsu tastes just nice for my friends and I.
We were actually craving to order another bingsu but held back as it was really late at night. Desserts are also very reasonably priced, and might even be lower than many other bingsu stores. This is definitely a must-go-back bingsu cafe. (perhaps condensed milk lovers may disagree.) But, personal preference!
Finally tried the KFC Chizza after much contemplation. Just like as seen from social media, it really looks different from as advertised. But advertisements were meant to entice isn’t it, so I decided to only judge it after I’ve tasted it.
I would say it isn’t as bad as it looked, but isn’t as nice either. The meat is tender and juicy and the flavour is just right, as KFC always do for its chicken. However, they could have been more generous with other toppings such as the fresh tomato sauce and cheese.
I was also quite disappointed when my Chizza wasn’t exactly served hot. It was only at a mild warm temperature. The taste in overall was 5/10.
It’s good for a try but I guess I wouldn’t be going back for more Chizza unless there are improvements (hopefully?).
Chicken Rice Was craving for some chicken rice and this was the first stall I saw.
It is $3.50 for a plate of chicken rice with egg.
I was quite surprised at the presentation as it looks completely different from the normal chicken rice.
It was presented in a more pleasant and appetizing way with more colours added to the chicken rice.
Other than the standard cucumbers found in chicken rice, there is also half a cherry tomato topped on the plate of chicken rice in the middle.
Furthermore the sauce used is of a different colour and there is also the bean sprout and another kind of vegetables included.
Even the egg added looks really different too.
First tried was the soup and it taste peppery, quite similar to bak kut teh.
The chicken rice itself tasted a bit weird though. Probably too much is added to the chicken rice which made the whole dish taste weird?
The rice with the sauce is more like rice with light soya sauce. The chicken is quite tender though and taste nice.
But have got to say the side ingredients do not really go well with the whole dish.
The egg we added is a little weird too :/
Overall the chicken rice is really creative and special but it does not complements the whole dish.
The sugarcane we had is quite fresh and refreshing, and we also added lemon to it.
The sweetness is okay though, where it is not very sweet this time round.
Would prefer a sweeter sugarcane juice but it is still fresh and as refreshing.
Pricing wise, It is quite expensive as compared to other stalls at other hawker centres. But since the price from other stalls are about the same here, this stall is considered not bad since the sugarcane juice did not turn diluted after the ice has melted.
Had tried other stalls’ stingray before the last few times we ate at 85 bedok and this stall is our final choice for stingray for its taste and freshness.
However the standard that day drops as the stingray is not that nicely grilled.
It is a little over grilled which made it slightly dry and some of the fresh sweetness is lost.
Could taste that the stingray is still fresh as usual though ^^
The chili is also vital to a stingray dish and we chose this stall partly also because of the nice belachan chili.
It may be a little too spicy but the chili is not too salty and it makes the stingray dish more appetizing
It is fragrant and the amount of chili is just nice, spread evenly on the top of the stingray.
The portion has shrinked over the years but it is still a reasonable size ;D
Have tried other stall’s where their chili is too salty or the stingray is not fresh, so I would recommend this stall out of the others at 85 bedok :D
