Japanese Shabu Shabu Bufffet :D Was craving for some buffet kind of dinner at cineleisure but other restaurants are having a long queue. Saw this steamboat buffet located at the corner and there wasn’t any queue. Went through the menu and it looks good.
Choose the sukiyaki and the kimchi soup base. Was attracted by the kimchi soup base that was rare at other restaurants ;D The kimchi soup base requires topping up of $10 though. But it’s worth that topping up because we liked the kimchi soup. :D
It’s not too spicy and has moderate proportion of spicy and sourness. The sukiyaki was not bad too, clear and refreshing.(:
The buffet style was to order items we wanted through the order slip which was passed to the staff when we’re ready. There are chicken meat, beef and pork shabu shabu, a variety of meat balls and prawn balls etc. There’s also udon, which got us excited as it seems rare too. A variety of vegetables to choose from, and many soup ingredients to flavour the soup like corn and carrot. The variety of choices are pretty great with quite a number of them. The meat are fresh and tender^^
Things that we didn’t like is that they should have indicated roughly the amount/pieces for each portion of meat/ingredients ordered or provide us with pictures so we can have a gauge of the portion. There are some ingredients that we didn’t know what they were so having pictures would also be more convenient.
A full dinner we had ;D the price may be a little high though, but its a Japanese buffet steamboat after all.
Sausage Cheese Egg Crepe Always bought the sausage cheese egg crepe from shihlin ;D For the sausage cheese egg crepe I ordered that day, the presentation no longer looks as nice. Normally they would have it arranged neatly but for that day’s, the crepe was quite untidily placed into the box.): Glad the taste did not differ that much. Still pretty love it :D When consumed right after it’s done, the cheese in it will stretch and the crepe is really crispy and fresh ;D The amount of sausage and cheese are as usual, quite generous ^^ Simply love the combination of egg crepe, cheese and sausage.(:
Curry Puff :D The ingredients in the curry puff was a lot!;D I could taste the curry in every bite I took. The puff skin is not too thick and fully filled with the fillings. But the curry filling was slightly too spicy and a little bitter. And the outer is no longer crispy after leaving it for hours until breakfast. We could oven it though.(: Overall it’s pretty nice :D and it’s really quite worth the money because the filling is a lot. It’s definitely fulfilling as breakfast.(: They seem to always have some offers for their puffs, especially this curry puff. Would try other flavours next time ;D
It was a Saturday and they do not have the student promotion that we used to order. So I ordered the noodles with chicken chipotle. Similar to what is shown on the menu, the noodles are like maggi mee. The sauce for the noodles is a little weird and the sausage isn’t very nice too :/ However, I like the texture of the noodles. And the waiting time for food to be served is quite fast.(:
When we asked for the bill, it took them quite a long time to get the bill to us, and they simply left it on the table and left. There was quite a crowd so we could understand it. However when we handed the card to them for payment, it took them an even longer time before the bill is returned to us. We got really impatient for the long waiting time. They had a real shortage of staff and most of them are inexperienced. Lucky for a guy staff who is more experienced, he settled the bill for us and even apologized to us.(: But be prepared for poor service speed/quality for dining there during peak hours.
Ordered a salmon side dish as I wasn’t really hungry, while my friends tried out their ramen.
It’s called the salmon croquette if I remembered correctly.
It is served in a plate of 3 croquettes, at the price of $3.80.
When it was served, it was warm and the outer was crispy ;D
The salmon filling was a little disappointing though, there isn’t much of a salmon taste…more of fish paste.
I think they made the salmon in the form of paste, but would love it if there are more salmon.
Since the salmon isn’t a lot and the size of the croquettes is not really big, it’s not really worth it.
As for the ramen, I tried the soup and it’s quite tasteful and rich in taste. My friends had pretty positive comment on it too.
So I guess it’s worth dining there after all for their main dishes.(:
