Mint (Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys) Museum of Toys @ 26 Seah Street is the world's first purpose-built museum for toys. Showcasing an extensive collection of vintage toys, including rare and unique one-of-a-kind toys, that spans more than 25 countries over 100 years.
Although I had heard and read of this place but can't didn't find time to visit it, maybe also due to the ticket price. Since I was invited for the Yebber party thus I went ahead to attend the party, visit the museum for FREE!
I have a quick tour of the museum because the party had yet started. I paid a visit to level 2 - 4 to check out the many antique and retro toys which includes Popeye, Batman & Robin, Ultraman, Mickey Mouse, Felix the Cat, Tintin, Flinestone, Snoopy, Inspector Gadget, Dennis, Beatles, Darkies, Matchbox car collectibles and other kampung toys!
Bring back many fond memories!

China Street Fritters in Maxwell Road Food Center, the main reason that you're not going to miss this 'wu xiang' stall is its fried egg, which is the rectangular deep-fried item, it's crispy and fully egg flavour, anyway it's egg afterall. Although this is a regular item in most 'wu xiang' stalls, but none of them tasted as good as this stall. The other items are also tasty and yummy, so is their sweet and chilli sauces.
When you order, you also need no use the tongs to pick your choices as a menu checklist with a display of the available items that you could use your finger to pin-point which item you want and the stall owner will do the selection pending on what you ordered.

Went to try Nihon Mura - one of the newest sushi conveyer belt player in Singapore - Nihon Mura which happens to be a subsidiary of Suki Sushi!
I find the decoration is rather nice. It is rather spacious too as one would not have problem walking in the wide walking space. We were directed to a lucky table number, table number 88!! As it was our first visit to Nihon Mura, the waiter took some time to explain how Nihon Mura functions, there is no menu but one can walk around the restaurant and look at the display photos and price of the food, if interested you could take one of the marked ice-cream stick from the respective food and return to your table.
Placing the ice-cream sticks into the ice-cream stick holder, the waiters or waitresses will take your orders by taking over the marked ice-cream sticks. When your order is ready, the food would be served to your table by the waiters or waitresses. Quite innovative and troublesome to walk around. Nevertheless, you could still take your favorite sushi from the conveyer belt at $0.99 each! Woah, cheap but it seems that these sushi had been on the conveyer belt for quite some time, thus they are not really fresh but they do taste good!
When come to the food that we ordered via the ice-cream sticks, they were not bad lor, comparable to Sakae Sushi and Yuki Sushi, prices are close too but some item's price can be quite a huge difference.
It was yet another fulfilling dinner ..... sashimi yummy, wasabi shiok shiok!

I chanced upon this place a while ago but visited it on a Monday when it was closed *just my dumb luck* Anyway then I caught it on Sunday Plus and decided that I should definitely try it. So I dragged my friend along that lazy rainy Sunday.
I loved the interior. No doubt it can only seat 15 and it's a little cramped but I love the peranakan style stuff and they actually sell peranakan clothing behind too! There were little knick knacks all over but I didn't take a look at the prices...
Food ordered:
Pan Fried Radish Cake & Yam Cake - $4.80 (4 slices)
Let me explain this one. On its menu, Radish cake and Yam cake are listed separately at $3.80 for 3 slices. But as there are only two of us, the lady offered to let us try both, giving us 2 slices of each at $4.80 which I agreed. I liked the radish cake more than the yam cake but both are smooth enough for me. I enjoyed them but I did find the portion too small for the price.
Grandma Rayna’s Roast Chicken - $10.80
YUMMY! I normally will not order roast chicken but this time I didn't have to cut it up myself so I was happily gobbling away at the chicken bits. The meat was well marinated and juicy. The potato that came with it reminded me of my pri sch canteen food though. I loved this dish (the chicken) but it was really expensive as there was little meat.
Gingko Silky Bean - $3
One word - Regret. I was turned off after two scoops but I still finished it... cos it isn't cheap. :P
Waffle with Ice Cream - $6.60
The waffle looked a little burnt at the sides and there was a slight sourish taste but it didn't bother me much. The ice cream is probably the sort you could get at supermarkets at half price.
We spent $25.20 for the two of us. but the food was basically a one-person's share. There wasn't much choice in desserts. The place is a nice place for people to chit chat (like we saw three other groups doing) but not quite a dessert place. But I would go back for the radish cake and chicken, just when my pocket feels heavier. :P

Happy First Birthday Yebber!
Today is the PARTY OF THE YEAR for Yebber! I was more than happy to be invited and be part of the party as well! Woohoo!
Claudia had asked me to be the emcee for the night and I was honoured to do that. Hee... But stressed at the same time. *Sweat* Wahahaha!
The event is held at MINT, a toy museum. A beautiful place where a personal collection of toys were exhibited! I was there before on a guided tour and was really impressed with the collection of toys and not to mention that at any one time, it will only consist of 10% (I think) of the collection where the rest are stored in a warehouse in Ang Mo Kio. This is my second visit to this place and have to say that I was totally impressed and felt in loved with this place in my first visit! It will be a good place to held my 30th birthday there as well. Hee....
A guide there, Roger (I think) was kind enough to show us the rooftop as well, it was good enough to hold a BBQ and at the same time, if there are fireworks at the Marina Bay, it will be a great place to see them there!
We were there to report at 5pm only to find out that we are the earliest. Hee... (Got to mention here we volunteered to help out one hor!) Not long after, the rest of the working party arrived and we started to become movers. Shifting up goodies bag, laptops and many other things. Setting up the place was easy especially with the help of the special staff there. Without them, we could not have get all the things ready in the time before the guests arrived! So exciting! Of cos we still managed to find time to cam whore as well. In fact we are all excited and crazy for the party to get started!
Seeing Claudia and Darren so stressed out over their speech, they sure got me started to get all nervous as well. I have done a lot of emcee jobs, but this is my first one (The Christmas event don't count) for Yebbers. Got partners, sponsors and Yebber bosses coming, so cannot disgrace Yebber or my face leh. Wahahaha....
Soon the 3rd floor became very crowded with guest and it seems that everyone know everyone. Wahahaha.... It suddenly becomes like a big networking session! For me, I just stand one side making myself sane for the event! Wahahaha! I am quite happy to see a few people who I have know their nicknames and finally got to see them in real life.
Around 7.30pm, decided to start off the event and have to say, it was quite difficult to get everyone attention. A mic will definitely do me good. Lucky for me, I was born with a loud and solid voice. I think everyone did managed to hear me. Hee...
During the party, there are games like Bingo and lucky draw to give away lots of prizes from vouchers, Creative mp3 players, web cams and optical mouses. I was lucky enough to win a Creative Webcam myself. Wahahaha! A bit pai seh to announce my own name some more.
What is a party without food right? There was a buffet of some good and decent food. Have to say that even though I only got time for one serving of food, but have to say that my favourites are the mushroom bruschetta and the chicken. I did not managed to help myself to the desserts where are a lot of tasty looking cakes. What a pity!
The event went through pretty smoothly even though there are small hiccups here and there but overall I give the party 4 stars out of 5 so that there will be room for improvements. Hope I did good enough to make everyone enjoyed the program as well. Hee...
So again A Happy Birthday to Yebber and many more wonderful years to come! Hope to see many of you all in the upcoming events!

I attended the Party held at the Mint on Friday and I loved it. I love the place, with all the quirky toys. It never fails to amaze me, this place.
Richard, the curator, was also very nice to help us out although it was past the time for him to knock off. He even offered to take us up to the balcony to see another area they have for a gathering. It was open air and I can see the makings of a BBQ there!
Anyways back to the party, lots of people were there, Yebbers and Pingsters and other bloggers... We were suitably entertained, though I have to agree with some that we needed a mic or a gong to get people's attention at least. :) The bingo game sure got lots of people's attention!!!
Also the prizes were great though I din win any. But I'm sure many appreciated the prizes. :)
The food also also pretty good though I'd prefer to have seats when I eat but it was alright too. I was too excited to eat wor. Nonetheless the people made sure we had all we need for the party to go on and I think that's one of the most important things when choosing a venue - having the support from the venue staff. :)

Not as special as I thought
Before J.Co arrives in this little small dot, I'd read bloggers from across the causeway sharing how good it is and how much they love it. So when I head they've set up their very first outlet at Raffles city, I was delighted! Off I went to try the infamous J.Co donuts.
When I was there, the queue wasn't as long as I'd expected. Instead the competition nearby, Donut Factory, was having a longer queue than J.Co.
I joined in the queue and started observing the staff behind the counter. They've in place an ordering system where each staff is incharge of some flavors within the hand-reach. And each customer is given a number for their order. The first staff will ask the quantity you want to buy and get the boxes ready. She's in charge of the first few flavors and will issue you a number when she passes you to the next staff who'll serve you for the rest of the flavors available. When you're done with your selection, you'll then proceed to the cashier where they'll tally your order and collect payment.
This seem like a systematic and effective way for them. But its not so friendly to some of the customers. Especially if they're there for the first time and not sure of what flavors they want. I would recommend to decide on the flavors and quantity for each before you reach the first staff. This will surely speed up the ordering process.
Hmm... looks like I've spent more time typing and explaining the process rather than talking about the donuts! Well, because, after tasting almost all the brands of donuts available in Singapore and also those from Krispy Kreme, I find the J.Co is just another brand of donuts. Nothing much to wow about. Other than some of the interesting looking ones with special names for some, there's just nothing much I would comment on. But because this is the only outlet here in Singapore, for now, I'm sure many will still queue to buy some just to get a taste of this sweet indulgence that is still getting the attention for the mass in Singapore.
As for me, I'll be staying away from these fattening snacks for now. :)

Lovely place with lovely food
Together with a few Yebbers, we met at mint cafe for an informal gathering. The cafe is cosy and comfy. Located at the basement of mint museum, decorated to the theme of the museum. The cafe is filled with retro looking movie posters and toys. Even the cushion on the seats were printed with robot (if I'd not remembered wrongly). The cafe thou small, house quite a good variety of food.
Some of us ordered their set lunch at $13.80 and some ordered the tea set at $7.80 .
There's a few mains that one can choose for their set lunch. And the set comes with soup, main, dessert and drink. As for the tea sets, one can choose any cakes/desserts in the menu and any of the tea/coffee available.
The soup served was nicely cooked and thick. For my set lunch, I ordered the Crispy Chicken Chop as my main. When it was served, I could smell the aroma coming from the generous piece of chicken. The main was served with mashed potato and side salad. One cut into the chicken and I knew I'm going to love it. Taking my first bite, I could taste the crispy crust and the meat inside was marinated and I love the taste. (Know when I'm writing this, I think this is the same chicken served at the night of Yebber's anniversary! No wonder it tasted familiarly delicious that night. Hot favorite by everyone.)
The dessert served with my lunch set was a tad too sweet for my liking. Couldn't remember what is its name thou.
On my other visit to the cafe, I ordered their tea set with Mississippi pie as the dessert. The chocolate mousse covering the layer of chocolate pie was not too sweet and complements the entire pie pretty well. I would recommend to enjoy the pie together with the whipped cream at the side. It's there for a reason. If you are not a whipped cream person, I recommend you try their other selections. Cos the pie gets a little "sick-to-eat" if eaten on its own.
Will surely be going back for their lunch set if I've the chance to. The spaghetti in their lunch set selection looks nice too.

After the event at mint, I would personally recommend anyone who's looking for a classy place to host your events at Mint museum. The staff are all very helpful and despite my long-winded conversation and constant reminders, the lady planning the event with me is always friendly and helpful. Thanks Mandy for the wonderful coordination and effort! As for the food, I'm sure many whom attended will agree with me that its good. Right?

I remember when TV Mobile first started, I was very disturbed. It was not properly set up and the whole system wasn't stable yet. I don't usually sleep on the bus but I find having some quiet time useful so it isn't really a boon.
At some places, TV mobile will tend to lag and freeze at certain scenes. Occasionally it would leave the actors/actresses in an ugly pose which will send me giggling. People probably think I'm weird then.
Now I think they've lowered the volume and ask people to tune in from the radio station if they wish to hear. But It's kinda like bring your own entertainment isn't it? I think it really defeats its purpose at times. Also very few people carry portable radios these days.
Nonetheless I always enjoy it when the Gags show up. That's my favourite. And I think lots of people enjoy watching it as it usually sends many people into peals of laughter.
TV mobile has a long way to go... meanwhile.. it's back to good ol' MP3.

Hua Xia Tai Mao Bi is a little shop in KK hospital which makes chinese brushes from children's hair. Newborns between 3 to 15 mths are brought to the shop to have their hair shaved off and made into chinese brushes for keeps.
I went with my friend's newborn that day and the lady patiently explained the process and let my friend choose the brush she wanted. They had quite a wide range,from fine ones to thicker ones. There were some with more intricate designs and others with simple paintings on them. The cheapest brush was $49 and the most expensive was $500 , I think.
Well the lady was quite gentle with my friend's 3 month old boy while shaving his head. He didn't cry at all and even fell asleep. He had plenty of hair so my friend chose 2 brushes.
The lady kept the enough to make the 2 brushes and returned my friend the rest. They had to go back 1 month later to collect the brushes. I was wondering to myself... how one would know whose hair was on the brush they made. Just purely based on trust I suppose.
Well the brushes DO NOT come in boxes and you have to purchase boxes too... which are slightly over $100...
The total for 2 brushes and a boxes to put both brushes in was $600.. which is a hefty sum I must say... I seriously don't think I would be spending this sort of money.
But I would have to give the lady credit for being so patient and providing such good service. Apparently Zoe Tay had her brushes done there too!
