Totally can't understand why the queue would always be so long at this stall. Kind of exaggerating.
It's over-rated. I've tried eating from this stall before once due to curiosity. The rice was so so, not much taste. The fried chicken wing tasted like it had been kept for more than a day, and the meat near the bones looked bloody. The fried egg was also very oily.
Will not think of going back to this stall...especially when the queue is often very long and the food is not nice.
Had my birthday cake from here- Strawberry shortcake.
It was 21cm and cost $32.
It's a vanilla sponge cake layered with strawberry slices. The strawberries were sweet and fresh and there were many slices of them in the cake.
The cake was soft and tasted very good.
The whipped cream was also not bad and it was not heavy.
After having had this cake for my birthday, I introduced this to my group of friends. We bought it for a friend's birthday, and after trying it, they all were satisfied with this cake even after a full meal of steamboat.
I always don't understand why there'd always be long queues for this restaurants. I never liked dining there.
The seating were quite cramp and the service staff were not very efficient.
I'd tried the lasagna, and a few main courses like seafood combo, and sirloin steak. The look of the lasagna was disgusting, and the taste wasn't apetisizing. The seafood combo was also too oily...made me feel very unhealthy eating it. The sirloin steak was also not tasty enough.
The drinks also couldn't make it...It seemed like almost every choice of my drinks was a mistake. It either tasted weird or not very nice.
Had free admission to this Singapore Flyer with my colleagues.
When proceeding to the flyer on the 2nd level, it was like entering the gates in airport terminal. Kind of weird.
We were then ushered to take a photograph at a "dummy" flyer capsule.
The ride in the capsule itself was fine. But in my opinion, not fantastic. It was too slow for me - 30mins for one single round. It made me feel bored and sleepy for the later half of the time.
I think there wasn't much to view. Whatever that could be viewed could be viewed in other tall buildings like hotels or office building. The ride was not bad but I think it cost too much.
Happened to be on the 4th floor of The Cathay yesterday. And happened to see a familiar sign at the corner. It was Astons Specialties! They've just opened this new outlet on Friday, 4 July 2008.
Am very happy to see that they had keep the price and no service charge policy at this new outlet although its in town. The place is very clean and simple. No fancy decor. Just monochromatic pictures on the walls, and simple and comfy tables and chairs neatly aligned. There is also outdoor sittings which wasn't set-up yet when I was there. (It's only day 2 of their operations!) There's also the familiar chalkboard with the day's special written on it.
Feeling hungry at 4pm, as I didn't eat anything since that morning, I ordered the Prime Ribeye X'tra Cut with fries and pasta salad ($16.50), and a glass of ice lemon tea ($1.80).
The fries was crispy and nice. Just like those I had at Astons Express. I love them! And the pasta salad was fresh and the pasta was cooked just right. The prime ribeye was cooked to the right medium-rare and the meat was tender, chewy and juicy. I cleared the entire plate (which was relatively huge) on my own!
If you're craving for good and reasonably priced steak in town, why not go to The Cathay for Astons Specialties?
Had a farewell dinner here for my manager. We had ala carte buffet for everyone. The price per pax was quite reasonable considering the variety we could choose from. There were like 18 dishes to choose from, like tomyam seafood soup (my favourite!!), pad Thai, sambal kangkong, pandan chicken, satay, rendang, sweet and sour fish, prawns (forgot the name, look at the photograph), green curry etc.
The dishes tasted average only in my opinion. Not fantastic but not bad.
The tomyam seafood soup was good though. There were sufficient seafoods inside and the soup's sourness and spicyness were just nice.
The service staff were quite efficient.
One good factor about this restaurant was the interior design of it. It was quite artistic and different compared to other common restaurants.
Well overall I'd still rate it as average. May or may not go back depending on my mood. Hehe...
This is a kiosk at Raffles MRT Exchange. Very near my office too. It sells stuff like apple strudels, peach strudels, eclairs of different flavours like strawberry, chocolate, coffee, vanila, double chocolate, bailey coffee, etc and other kinds of pastries which I can't really remember now.
I went to buy durian puffs from them some time ago. This week I bought them again and introduced them to my colleague. My colleague fell in love with it and went to buy more for herself and other colleagues. Other colleagues tried and were then giving good comments on the durian puffs.
They cost $3.50 for 3 pieces in a box. Expensive? To me they are....what do you think?
You will see the size of the puff in the photographs I have attached.
However, the durian filling in the puff is considered alot. Look at the photographs you will see how much inside. The taste is really good too......
My colleagues and I will surely go back to get more :P
Oh by the way, some time ago I also bought the peach strudel. It's very nice as well. Something different for me instead of the usual apple strudel.

The lights in this cinema's ticket box office and the hallway to the theatres are not too dim. The seats in the theatres are also quite comfortable.
The seats are not cramp at all and there's enough space for my legs (I have long legs). My neck doesn't ache at all too.
The air-conditioner there is also not too cold for me unlike in other cinemas. I don't have to bring a jacket there. =)
So far this is my favourite cinema for watching movies.

I don't really like watching movie here and will normally avoid coming here for movie.
The seats are not very comfortable despite there's quite alot of space for the legs.
The back support of the seat is bad and headrest is protruding, thus it causes my neck to ache, and causes me to feel giddy and headache.
The directions to the specific theatres are also not very clear.

Wasn't very pleased when I tried Ice Monster in Plaza Singapura. It was not as good as the one in Bencoolen.
Of course the prices of the desserts were the same but the quality and taste of the desserts lost to the ones in Bencoolen.
The desserts tasted average and the ice didn't taste milky enough at all.
Doubt would go back there...
I'd go to the one in Bencoolen instead.
