I am quite picky for food. Cheap crappy food disgusts me. I'm always willing to pay more for better food. We need good food to survive, don't we?
But this restaurant just blew me out.
Their prices are super low. As in low, low. Usually I expect to pay about $10 for good food (which is not abundant in the vicinity of my school. sigh), but this restaurant...
For a main course, you will only expect to pay on average of $4. FOUR DOLLARS. 0_0 you saw that right. FOUR DOLLARS. Their serving is quite big too! Just perfect for a "big meal". Pssst.. If you're nice to the people who serve you, I'm pretty certain that they will give you some extra. ;) my boyfriend, who was a regular in this restaurant, claimed that he often got 10%-20% discount and sometimes free tidbits and drinks.
The food is tasty. It's as tasty as higher priced food. Which is quite surprising and extraordinary. They mainly sell usual Asian dishes such as Hokkien Mee, Mee Goreng, Fried Rice (my boyfriend claimed they have the best fried rice in Singapore - it's very close to Indonesia's fried rice - which is super tasty I tell you), Prawn Noodle, and (well...) spaghetti bolognaise, and many others.
To top it off, they also have desserts. I and my boyfriend ordered the sundaes, which were going for only $2 each. 0_0 well it wasn't as tasty as Ben n Jerry's (for example), of course. But to have a nice dessert after a sumptuous meal for only $2... It's a delight.
It's kinda hidden in Fortune Centre (Bugis Area). I highly recommend you to drop by sometime. Just go around the first floor and you'll be able to find it.
I should go here more often. Bored of school's food.. Sigh..
Well I say, heck with the uncomfortable place and sometimes non-English-speaking (this is important for me, you know!) staffs.
The chicken rice is heavenly.
I love the soy sauce! It's fragrant and a bit tingly. The chicken meat is also soft and nice to eat. Even the rice is fragrant.
And what I love is that in every table they give you sweet soy sauce, minced garlic, and chilli sauce. This means you can mix it to your own preference! For me, I like loads of soy sauce and minced garlic here and there. Damn, I'm almost drooling remembering it.
The place is very easy to find. It's just opposite of Novena Church and just behind the bus stop. It will be very crowded at Sunday, especially after the church's mass is finished, but not worries! For me, I will wait no matter how long to taste their chicken rice =D
They also have other food. I seldom order them. Once I ordered a bowl of dumpling soup and it's also very nice =D I think they also have some seafood and grilled things in big serving, to cater family makan session, maybe?
Chicken rice, that ordinary food, made extraordinary by Wee Nam Kee. Try it! =D
A sushi with a different touch! If you crave for sushi but don't want the ordinary sushi, come to Ichiban sushi and be merry! They have unique variety of sushi for you to choose.
Of course they still have the "ordinary" ones, but why spend on the ordinary when you can have the extraordinary?
They have sushi with cheese layer covering it. And more cheese inside! Then they also have chicken floss sushi! And many others... Like inari stuffed with rice and crabstick.. Inari stuffed with many other things.. Just one word... They're all yummy!
And price is still ok, I guess. The "ordinary" sushi will cost about 1.90 per plate. If you're tempted to try those interesting sushi, you might have to spend about 3.90 per plate. (Watch out for the plates with swirling motives! They're nice, they're delicious, they're expensive! =P)
I and my boyfriend spent $17 each that day. Oh gluttons are we.
Also if you're in no mood of sushi, they also offer a la carte food. What I tried is the $5 combo meal. I had this rice covered with fried dory and egg with some onion.. It's heavenly. Plus it comes with the most delicious miso shiro ever! I swear I haven't tasted miso shiro that delicious in Singapore. And have I told you? Even their wasabi tasted nice. I usually hate wasabi for its strange smell and its strange taste. Surprisingly, the wasabi in Ichiban Sushi is really good. I can't believe I could take so much wasabi!
Definitely recommended and I'm definitely going back! =D
Since it's a franchise, basically all Ben and Jerry's taste is the same. What's kinda bummer about this particular branch is its cramped space. Even some chairs and tables put outside are still not enough. It's too packed and it's hard to move.
Sometimes they have a live band performing. If you're lucky you'll catch groovy ones. Just hope you won't come when there are some weird band playing. I once came when there was this kinda emo/punk/whatever with a girl vocalist wearing convent uniform and I hoped they would sound good since the girl was cute but then.....
Blah.
But Ben n Jerry is always a delight. Maybe it's better to "da-bao" the ice cream rather than eating there.

Their theme is fusion, so get ready for unusual but tasty mix of endless delight!
My menu was spaghetti curry. Yes, it's spaghetti, that pasta, with curry sauce! I'm sure you can't find it elsewhere... And it's suuuuper tasty :D The pasta is not sticky and the curry sauce is very fragrant and flavorful. Truly recommended. =D
The serving is quite generous, too. Perfect for full-course lunch/dinner. However, if you only want to hang out with some BFFs, they also serve refreshing mocktails.
And what I love is the ambience. It's smacked between other restaurants at The Cathay's basement, which kinda makes it hidden. However they have beautiful interior and nice, nice groovy music. Love it. =D
The price is quite steep. You might spend about $15 for the delight. But given the scrumptious food and the pleasant ambience, The Indulge will keep you coming for more!
