books actually is now relocated to ann siang hill, and is occupying the shop-front of wad used to be the boutique called front row. front row has reduced its shop space after doing away with its selling of misc items, and now focuses only on retailing their designer apparels on the 2nd floor of the shophouse.
i like the quaint and old school feel in books actually. with the many old typewriters decorating its shelves, and the familiar woodish smell of paper, i just feel so good upon entering the shop. even if im not looking for any books in particular, it is always interesting to browse arnd and check out their numerous quirky stuffs.

Situated on a quiet street, Books Actually is a secret heaven for book lovers and those who enjoy collecting quirky little vintage objects. Right at the doorstep, you will first be greeted by a white horse kiddy machine followed by an interesting stack of white books that only serve to add to the mysterious range of products that await you through the white glass door.
This beautifully serene shop carries titles that are hardly found in the local book giants and also vintage items such as polarid cameras as well as hand made items that are definitely a hit among book lovers. These hand made items come in a range varying from little match boxes printed with famous book covers such as The wizard of Ox etc. to bookmarks made from pictures taken from Curious George and Magdelene.
Despite being a newly opened shop, Books Actually has been featured in the newspapers on several occasions, thanks to their special ways of organising homely events such as a simple book launch, a poem session or exhibitions. In addition, interesting items such as hand craved carpenter pencils are used to publicise the exhibitions. Hence this makes the shop a lovely place for talents looking for a spot to showcase their works.
Books Actually is a project of passion, spearheaded by Kenny and Karen who play humble and wonderful hosts to the visiters of their little book home. They have also recently gone into the foray of book publishing and pubished Cyril Wong's latest collection of poems.
All in all, if you are looking for a place to sneak off to and be in a storyland, Books Actually is there playing a soft french tune and waiting for you on Telok Ayer Street.
