10 Reviews for “Cathay Cineplex (Downtown East) ” - Arts & Entertainment

Went to catch a movie here sometime ago.
Went on a saturday. Firstly, the queue is not very long. Reached around 10am. This is a welcome, especially on a weekend. However, I don't really remember the queue later in the day.
Threatre wise, it is quite similar to all the other cathay branches. Normal seats in front, couple seats for last few rows, nice distance away from the screen
Sound reproduction was alright too. This place is quite new, housed in the new entertainment complex as part of the chalet compound. There are things to do after watching the show in the complex.
There are also promotion for some credit card holders. UOB at $8 per ticket on weekends if im not wrong.
Overall, I would recommend this place for watching movie if it is not too far off for you.

Whenever I booked a chalet at Pasir Ris, I never failed to visit the cinema with my kids. They just love watching those late night movies. However, I rated this cinema with only 3 stars because there's a few things that isn't up to my expectation.
What I hate about this place is the ticketing and popcorn counter which merged into one. I wish they would've separated those two counters which would have made things alot easier.
Another thing which was inconvenient was the toilet which was situated outside the cinema. It was a hassle having to go in and out of the cinema with my kids just to get to the toilet and missing quite a portion of the movie.
Although there's a couple of flaws, I'd certainly go there again.

Finally, after living in Pasir Ris for eighteen years, there's finally a cinema in town without having to go all the way to Tampines... But I still prefer Shaw at Century Square.
However, this cinema is probably one of the smaller ones among cathay. Seats are slightly uncomfortable. But the biggest sticking point is that the snacks counter is together with the ticketing counter, so if you had booked your tickets in advance to beat the queue, you still have to queue with everyone else to get your drinks.
