I do not find challenger a good option.

I went there for Canon Pocket DIGI Camera. Salesman keeps luring us for Nikon. However, there is no problem as Nikon is also a good brand.

What I find BAD about this store is that they are little cheat when it comes to EMI option. Here is the instance what happened to us:

We were interested for Canon powershot 200 IS, which they coted us S$599. I think it was overpriced. however it was looking good to me as they were providing me some freebies like 8GB memory card, a small tripod, a screen protector and a camera bag. well, everything okay to us. When I told them that I would be paying by credit card with EMI option, they told me that you have to pay full price S$649 if you want EMI option. I said okay I'll go for it. but, suddenly they were replacing things with another items which was not good as compared to that they were giving us if we would have opted to pay by cash. I cancel my deal with these.

When I went to Courts. They shown me latests model Canon Powershot 210 IS model with a price tag S$649 with freebies. When I said I would be paying it by EMI option they were ready without any problem. They said it's okay as it is above > S$500. Also I got the latest model.

I hope people like to go to shops where salesman/saleswoman are friendly. Suggested stores: Courts, South East Asia Pvt Lte and others except Challenger and Alan Photo. They are worst stores I ever saw.

Got myself a Challenger membership not long ago, so when I needed to get myself a mouse and a router, I naturally headed down to Challenger to get them so as to earn some points and benefit from the member pricing.

The Challenger store was so much larger than I expected it to be and of course with the large area, there was a wide range of products available.

I really love the fact that they have the products on display for both the mouse and the routers so that customers can have a feel of the products physically. For those looking for notebook cooling pad, they also have cooling pads on display, so you could have a feel at the cooling pads to judge for yourself which one suit you best.

I was still quite undecided on the choice of routers available and the functions of the routers but the salesperson was really helpful in answering my questions and doubts.

Overall I would recommend this Challenger outlet to those who want to get their electronic goods as you would be able to compare the different brands at ease. Also if you're a Challenger member, you'll be able to get the member discount on most of the products too.

You was not expecting ladyironchef to get his DSLR from challenger after reading all the rantings and praises he had for the different camera shops.

After the complaints against Alan photo, and the praise on John 3:16, you must be wondering why didn't LIC got his DSLR from John 3:16?

Well, first thing first, LIC love canon products, the old camera is a canon ixus 60. But for DSLR, for the budget LIC has now, Canon doesn't seem so viable. Nikon D40 for &750, D60 for $950, Canon 400D for $1080, Canon 450D for $1490.

I'll love to get from John 3:16, but they are not a fan of Nikon, and the model that i wanted to get D40, they are not selling it anymore. End of story.

On the other hand, Challenger is having this promotion for Nikon D40 for $749 which comes with a nikon bag, 2GB SD card. But we hit one snag, the promotion lasted until 30 april only.

As i was there last sunday, but i didn't buy the dslr as i was in rush of time. The sales associate Shawn he remembered me, and despite the promotion is over, he gave me the 2GB SD card. Thats service to me.

After which, i asked him where can i get the screen protector, challenger is selling at $9.90, but then even though its not part of the deal, he say he gave it to me. Its not the freebies, but the service provided by Shawn. Kudos!

And i am proud to annouce Ladyironchef is a owner of the magical DSLR, the Nikon D40!! Thank you for reading through all the previous posts, hope i didn't confuse you where i was buying from : )
