Chan Brothers Travel

We booked a trip for 2 to Hainan Island last year for our parents at the Travel Fair, Chan Brother's counter. Well I should say that the male staff that served us is pretty friendly and overly chatty. He provided sound travel advises and is pretty clear about the package coverage, however while we are deciding on the package he insisted we also take the travel insurance that they also carry on top of the yearly travel insurance my parents already got.

We are glad that we received a few free gifts that came with the payment, some toys, 2 foldable duffle bag and 2 sets of travel sized first aid kit plus a chance for lucky draw in which we had to wait for a couple of hours and halfway through waiting, we decided to give up as its too tiring. All is well until 2 weeks before the travel date that the agency called us up to inform us that the group we travel with has insufficient participants as such we must push back the date to 2 weeks later or we could get our money back. We have decided to get the refund as a change of date is inconvenient.

The refund is prompt however we lost the travel insurance as it is non-refundable due to certain circumstances that we had difficulty comprehending. As we are glad to be able to get the bulk of the money back, which took a few days to process, we let the matter go amiably so as not to complicate the gift to our parents. We then decided to get another tour package from another travel agency and apparently this other agency offers similar itinerary and hotel quality yet a lower price and can confirm the trip almost immediately...

We were glad that we managed to get the trip to go as planned and my parents enjoyed it pretty much... However we are now careful not to make purchase at travel fairs as the administration is complicated and confirmations unreliable.

I believe in these times, if you really wanna travel, you should choose a reputable agency. I mean what's the point in choosing a cheap agency if it goes belly up together with all your hard-earned money?

Chan Brothers may be slightly more pricey than other packages, but scrutinise your package to see the inclusions and value. Their post-travel service is prompt and satisfactory!
