1 Review for “City Bayview Hotel ” - Hotels &Travels
5
Are you thinking of travelling to Penang on a free and easy trip? Looking for a suitable hotel that is at a good location and still affordable?
Try City Bayview Hotel. this 4 star hotel can be booked through Konsortium or other travel agencies at the price of only $181 for 3 days 2 nights.
The good point about this hotel is that it provides daily buffet breakfast and on top of that, a dinner buffet at its revolving hotel. Many other hotels provide only breakfast so this extra dinner is a plus point. At this restaurant, you do get a brilliant view of Georgetown although the spread for the buffet is not exactly wide but it still consists mainly of the typical food like cereal prawns, spagetthi, soup etc. with lots of desert and a live band.
On top of that, the hotel is at quite a good location whereby you can access the free shuttle bus service easily, or walk to the beach night hawker or to penang street hawker or night markets at campbell streets. Directly next to the hotel is a street of clubs that are pretty impressive.
The hotel also has a 'kopitiam' that provides local delights. The interesting thing is this kopitiam is open to public as it sits in front of the hotel's porch, open air and like real hawker stalls.
The not too good points are that the hotel does not provide safes in hotel rooms and you have to deposit your important documents with the hotel safe instead. Also the daily breakfast consists of the same variety daily so staying for more than 3 mornings may not be a good idea. Imagine eating the same food daily. (you might want to try the street hawker if you are really staying for 3 mornings, the kopitiams in the streets offer brilliant breakfast set). Also, although City Bayview is near the beach, you may not necessarily get the beach view from your hotel, my room was facing the wall of another building, a very 'exciting' view if you enjoy looking at cracks on a grey wall.
All in all, in terms of location and package, City Bayview Hotel is worth a stay after a ten hour ride on the bus.
