When we were teenagers, Coffee Club has always been one of our favorite haunts; the reason being – its signature Muddy Mudpie!

Muddy Mudpie is made up of 2 thick layers of ice cream on an Oreo cookie base. The top light brown ice cream is coffee flavoured, while the bottom darker brown is chocolate with a tinge of hazelnut flavour. A generous serving of chocolate sauce is drizzled over the mudpie followed by sprinkles of cocoa/Oreo bits. This is not our first time trying Muddy Mudpie, our first experience was many years ago, perhaps around 2006? And over years, we’ve made a few observations.

Firstly, the Muddy Mudpie is gradually decreasing in size. We should to be amazed by the sheer size of the mudpie, now we’re just hoping it doesn’t shrink any further. Secondly, the ice cream appears to be getting softer or perhaps the weather is getting hotter, hence the ice cream appears to melt more quickly. Previously, the mudpie was a bit tougher, had a more chewy and solid texture; at least when we attempt to cut through it using our forks, we faced a bit of resistance. Right now, the texture of the mudpie is too soft and we can cut through it easily. Lastly, though the mudpie is shrinking in size, the price is ever increasing. A muddy mudpie after tax costs $11.18.

Taste wise, the coffee ice cream still packs a strong coffee taste and aroma. The chocolate ice cream had a slight tinge of hazelnut. In general, the ice cream was smooth and strong in flavours. The chocolate sauce went well with the ice cream. However, the cookie base was a major letdown. The cookie base was soft, and not crunchy at all. It was rather clumpy, and had a ***** salty taste. There’s not much Oreo taste either. Basically, the cookie base spoiled the entire mudpie.

Hopefully the standard of Coffee Club’s Muddy Mudpie doesn’t deteriorate any further.

It was quite some time back when I patronised this outlet in February. The menu has tweaked quite a bit so I will not be mentioning about the soft shell crab udon I ordered because I presume they have realised how bad it is. (And if I do review, it's not going to be a good one)

The outlet is smacked right at the heart of Orchard Road, in between Orchard Shopping Centre and Orchard Building. This is a 24-hour servicing outlet, which is operating al fresco style. There are mist fans slotted around to keep the place cool, but I still don't fancy going there on a hot and sunny afternoon. From here, customers can get to see the different walks of life engaging in their daily life or shopping along the street. Maybe a time for some to self-reflect perhaps?

But one particular incident strikes me, which made me real disgusted and avoid visiting this outlet in the near future. I requested for a cup of water, only for my request to be rejected. Reason being that the outlet has a policy not to serve water. I don't know whether if it holds true on other occasions but I find it puzzling. Why can't I even have a cup of water? It's not as if I did not make any order or drink order. I just wanted some water to cleanse my throat, how difficult can that be?

Anyway, I would recommend having their drinks whenever you visit. Their forte is at coffee and tea making so don't expect too much of their food quality.

This coffee club is one of the places I always loved to hang out @ Orchard Road. The whole place is open air concept so no air con. There is smoking area and non smoking area. It is also a bit nosiy as you can heard the cars going by and the noise from the birds etc.

There are a lot of mist fans in the place so dun worry about feeling hot in a place without air con. In fact, it is a good place to go in a lazy afternoon to read. Haa....

Went there after a movie at Cathay Orchard for a simple snack. Not really feeling in a mood for dinner.

We ordered Chicken Pie, Spicy Chicken Wings, Ice Tea and Strawberry Smoothie. Lastly Apple crumble for dessert.

Their chicken pie is good. It came with hot fillings and the pie is crispy. When eaten together, it is a good mix.

This is the first time I tried their spicy wings. The wings came in a pyrimid shape, stack on one another. Fried, crispy and not oily coated with a layer of their spicy sauce. This is good!

For their drinks, icea tea ok, but the strawberry smoothie tasted like cough mixture. Of cos my fav drink there is still morning dew tea. I also ordered a pot of mornng dew to pamper myself as well. One of my happy food.

Their apple crumble comes with huge chunks of apple, with a layer of crust and topped with a big scoop of ice cream. It is how I like my apple crumble to be. Hot with a cold mixture! Great!

Of cos their mudpie is also famous. Should give it a try. Personally I prefer the "other place" mudpie. Hee.....

The service is prompt and polite. We were seated when we reached the door. I dun like the original seat and requested another seat, the waitress immdefiatly jz bring me to the seat I requested for. No questions asked.

After ordering the food also came pretty fast. Except when they are processing my bill, it took some time, but it is fine with me. Haa...

Overall, I like the atmosphere of the place. It is like a calm spot in the middle of Orchard Road. My peace heaven.
