I went to Ding Tai Fung Paragon a few times with my friends and the last time was with my family to the one at Tampines (despite my many rejections simply because the group never went before). Personnally, I wouldn't want to go back to Ding Tai Fung again.
First is the limited food list. Nowadays, a lot of restaurants have the standard Xiao Long Bao in their menu and their quality is not bad. And even though Ding Tai Fung have different types of Xiao Long Bao in their menu, I don't usually end up eating the other types, since everyone in the group will just pick their famous standard Xiao Long Bao as first choice and we end up with no stomach left for the other types.
One important dish I must highlight is their Suan La Tang. We had it once at Paragon when one of the credit cards offer it for free. It was NOT sour and NOT spicy. My friend end up pouring the chilli oil into the soup.
But I do like their Xiao Cai, especially I like sour things and their appetiser veg fits my taste, and their chicken soup (although I often have no stomach left for it after the Xiao Long Bao and noodle).
2nd negative is that my impression of the Paragon outlet is that there is always a long queue.

I visited Din Tai Feng at Paragon two nights ago for a dinner gathering with couple of friends. It was my first visit there despite all the raves about the Chinese restaurant named as one of the best Chinese cuisine restaurant by The New York Times. Anyway, we ordered several dishes like the prawn fried rice, fried rice with chicket cutlet, xiao long bao (original), xiao long bao (with crabmeat), dan dan noodle, handmade noodle with prawn.
Basically, I find that the variety of food items on the menu seemed relatively limited, not to mention higher price tag. Maybe I was expecting something more in terms of food variety options. And it seems that there's many dishes prepared with prawns in them! Haha... Then again, I have to say that the quality and level of cleanliness and customer service is up to standard and the food taste is generally good. The environment is pretty cozy and I suppose it's a good place to have meals with family or friends. Foodwise, I like the xiao long bao and handmade noodle. You can savour the sweetness of the soup inside xiao long bao as you bite into the thin skin of the bao. As for the noodle, it has a QQ texture and is not overly cooked- just nice!
Based on the above, I give the restaurant 4 out of 5 stars.
