One word to sum it all – BAD. We give it 2 thumbs down. The description of the Peanut Butter Slice read “Rich & creamy peanut butter on a crunchy biscuit base. It is soft and delicate in texture but rich and creamy in taste”. Indeed, looks wise, the peanut butter slab was seated nicely on a layer of digestive biscuit like crust. Seemingly, there would be 2 kinds of texture one would expect – the creamy peanut butter and the crunchy biscuit. However, the moment we attempt to slice out a small portion, we realized how soft the entire peanut butter slice was. The immediate impression after the first bite was that it was very soft, too soft that there was no differentiation between the peanut butter and the crunchy biscuit base. In fact, there was no crunchiness at all. The entire slice was akin to a pudding, which pretty much grossed us out. The peanut butter was also too sweet and totally different from the conventional peanut butter spread.
So far, the desserts at EWF has been nothing but disappointing. Guess this will be the last straw for us and we would probably not ever try any desserts from EWF.

It probably seems that I belong to the live-to-eat camp, everything I do revolve around food and that includes tweeting. And you probably envy me for the feasts and good food that I have all the time, right? Actually not quite. The truth is, there are many times where I get sick of everything.
Initially I thought it was because I had too much good food – that my taste buds were numbed so I didn’t even feel excited, not even when there’s so many delicacy in front of me, But really, it’s a lot more serious than that. My problem is nutella. I can give up everything when there’s chocolate hazelnut around, all I need is white bread, no I don’t even need bread – I eat nutella from the jar.
I will never forget that fateful day, flashed back many many years ago; I was young and inquisitive, which was not a good combination. I saw a jar with white lid on the table, it smelt good, and I wondered if it tasted as good. So out of curiosity, I turned the top and stuck my finger into the dreamily sexual-looking spread. My shoulders shuddered as I carefully placed my thumb that had the glossy, brown spread, into my mouth. It tasted like chocolate, and there’s something nutty about it. And I felt like I was in heaven, and you know what? I still feel the same way, every single time when I have it. Nutella is ***, no, nutella is even better than that.
It’s one of those defining moments in life where you know everything will never be the same again. I blame nutella for everything.
As we entered the place, my eyes scanned through the menu and I knew immediately what to order – nutella tart. The thing about it was, you can never go wrong with nutella, unless, you put too little of it. And here, they manage to grasp this simple, yet profound logic. They drizzled tons and tons of nutella with the tart; the half-melted chocolate hazelnut on top of a oreo-based tart, perfect! I enjoyed every bite of it, and it tasted even better when you shared it. We also had the vanilla eclair, while it was pretty good, but it pales in comparison beside the nutella tart.
Long story short, if you like my review please do come by ladyironchef . . . for the delicious in you

Checked out this new outfit at Joo Chiat/Katong corner on Wednesday with my family.
First impression with the cafe ambience was utilitarian. Basic wooden stools and tables arranged in a forward-looking manner! Bare concrete floor and basic white printed walls with adequate simple lighting. Tables were arranged too close together to maximize numbers. Also, table size is too small for anything else except for one course and one drink each.
Cafe supervisor or manager (maybe boss) was a very stern looking lady in darker pink polo. Never smile or greet us at all. Alway staring at the service crew of young boys and girls (who look like past-timers to me). Counter staff seemed to be very inefficient in serving drinks despite the slow weekday crowd. Our drinks took more than 15 minutes to arrive.
I ordered 2 lamb burgers for me and my daughter. My husband ordered a pork chop. All meals came with fries of your choice. Two basic types of fries with 5 different flavours. We like the curry and sour shoestring best. Our side order of skinny wings was good. Done just right and not over deep fried. Crispy on the skin and juicy on the meat. We loved it.
Our main courses were a totally different experience. I ordered medium-rare for my burger and well done for my daughter's. Unfortunately, both burgers came over done! I noticed the meats tasted a bit funny. I would guessed that they were staled (perhap these were the reason for over doing the burgers)!!! Anyway, my daughter and I gave up after two to three bites.
My husband pork chop was no better. It was burnt and charred. The meat was dried and hard. The cooks also make a lot of cuts into it to see if the meat was cooked which lead me to guess that the grill temperature was set very high to speed up the cooking process. I also think the chop was marinated with too much suger that also contributed to the burning and charring.
Finally, the bill ... food and drinks came up to over $80 for 3 at a simple cafe!!!
Definitely not value for money ....
