I love Central alot. Seriously. It's located by the river, which makes walking along the area very relaxing... Therapeutic, I mean.
Shops like Gobi and Paisely and Cream (you know, very "sweet" shops with awfully cute decor) abound in Central. Could it be the location?
Anyway, being a macaroon fan (every since it became the "in" dessert in Singapore), of course I knew about this. Gobi was mentioned in a number of news articles too. And I heard celebrities go there for a yummy dessert.
As a self-professed chocolate lover, of course, the chocolate macaroon appealed to me the most.
However, the price is wayyy too much for a cheapskate student like me, so, oh well, cant go there too often ;)

i love macaroons ,i walk pass central many times but i didnt know that that macaroons store is GOBI i saw from other forum, there's quite a lot of peoples said is nice so i decided to give it a try i bought their mini macaroons there's vanilla, orange, chocolates, mints, strawberry flavours inside, there about 8-10pcs inside & it cost about $8.50 compare to other macaroons i think is a bit cheaper is nice but i think is a bit too sweet & a bit hard when i take out, some of the macaroons stick together but i do love their packages is so sweet & lovely is great for gift

My gf bought some pastries from Gobi Dessert at The Central for my birthday. For those who didn't know, Gobi specialises in bite sized finesse pastries and has its main outlet at Katong Mall.
$24 netts you 12 different aesthetically pleasing pastries, all of which are simply delectable. I honestly don't remember how each individual one tasted like but I do know for a fact that I liked all of them! I guess the pictures will be able to tell you a better story.
