Date of Visit: 1 Oct 08 Timing: abt 9pm Service: Good Food-Taste: Not too bad, depends on order Ambience: Nice & Soothing, Clean Price Total: $52.26. i wld say prices r abt norm for wat u expect @ a "restaurant", abit to e higher-end maybe. abt $10 for a meal those kind depending on wat is e meal u order.
Me & bf were so hungry for our dinner & decided on Ichiban Boshi, seems tt their last order is 9.30pm. It didn't took log b4 they attended to us & led us the way in to a 2-seater (1 chair & the "booth" seat kind-/opp.).
The waitress came 2 check w us if we wanted any drinks 1st b4 placing an order as we were still undecided. We finalized our order & e waiter/waitress(i forgot) came quickly 2 take our orders:
1) 2 Green Tea Apparently their so-called green tea wasn't green @ all, it's a reddish-yellow color, but e waiter/waitress explained nicely tt it is green tea upon our questioning looks when we rcv e drinks... Tea was refreshing, well, nth much 2 describe. haa~
2) Colored Plates a) Cheese Salmon Sushi - Not bad, salmon fresh & e cheese on top slightly melted on it.. Mmm.. b) California Handroll - Indregients r nt "stingy", fair bit of e crabroll, red color minis (4got its name), big avacado etc.. c) Sushi (e red color one, 4got its name!) - nice. d) Cold Soba - weren't eaten by me, can't comment.. but no bad comments though. so shld be ok.
3) Executive Meal - o.k It comes with a bowl of rice, miso soup, the "hot plate" of beef slices & cherry tomatoes sticks, with e jap white long mushrooms (forgot its name too) submerged in e ginger gravy/sauce, 2 slices of orange, & a plate of salmon slices (think it was 4/6). I didn't quite like e main though, coz of e strong ginger taste. Though e beef is soft & tender.. e soup is also nice, & not to forget... THE SALMON. simply love it~
4) Double Niku Soba - Alright This is my meal... The "double" refers to e beef meatballs & beef meat slices. It tasted refreshing & nice in e beginning.. & tt is, in e beginning only.. Probably I'm nt a soba-eater, so e soba itself seems abit too soft & thick for me, i dunno (usually i take ramen), but i start to get sick of e niku taste... Perhaps it's too strong, so it seems i was like "forcing" myself to cont.. But the meatballs r nt bad though, e "chewyness" is just right. Bad thing is e beef slices, especially e bigger slices, they're super hard to chew.. v hard. won't order again e next rd. once enuff..
I think I might have ordered the wrong dish as my main, as soba is nt really my kind of food. As for the executive meal, if u dun like too strong a ginger taste, u might nt like it either.... But e side orders r nice. So i think overall, e restaurant is gd. will try this rest again for other foods.. :)

I was there a few times. None of it disappointed me. Except for the most recent visit. Guess, my usual choice of 'simple' food doesn't really work all the time. I ordered Tempura Udon. Yes...udon again, because it's easier to finish noodle, and I hate wasting food. I guess I was trying pretty hard to convince myself the meal wasn't that bad. But after much thought...I think chefs are humans too and their threshold of standard dropped slightly. My tempura looks ok at first, but at the end of the meal all my tempura looked soggy and man..does it taste like flour or was it my imagination?! Udon was still ok...so lucky I had at least udon to make me full.

My friend brought me to this restaurant for dinner last weekend. She told me that the prices were quite reasonable and the portion of the food was quite big.
And what she said was true.
The restaurant looked bright and nice. We were welcomed by a polite waitress.
The table was kind of small. Nevertheless, we did not order much food that day.
I ordered a hot green tea and a Sukiyaki Gozen set. The Sukiyaki Gozen cost only $16.90. I used the word "only" because I found it very worth the price compared to other Japanese restaurants.
The set consisted of the Sukiyaki pot itself, plain udon, white rice, salmon sashimi, a small bowl of lotus roots, miso soup, and 2 pieces of fresh orange.
The beef in the pot was very sufficient for me (might be more than sufficient for some). And the soup in the pot was really nice and tasty. I added udon into the soup as well.
The salmon sashimi pieces were thick and fresh.
I was quite satisfied with my meal and was really very full after that.
Will return again :)
