IKEA Singapore (Tampines)

I've always thought of Ikea as the place for furniture and home accesories but was pleasantly surprised one fine weekday when i was dragged along with the team for a meal there.

The IKEA foodcourt or restaurant is a novel concept where most of the process involves the customer choosing and creating their own menu as they go.

For example, collecting salads, cakes, coffee and sandwiches etc. But the place is known for its extremely big and juicy chicken wings and their meatballs with spagghetti which i managed to try a little of.

The meatballs were really something different with its strong taste of spices and considerably bigger then normal size. The spagheti costs about $8 and comes with 5 meatballs but trust me, its never enough. Something to look out for.

The coffee dispenser is free flow so take all you want with the cup you are "issued". But don't expect to be able to take away the drinks however.

Overall, an interesting experience at an interesting concept store.

Since IKEA Tampines opened, my mom's been preeeeety happie!

for the simple fact that we stay in the east, and thus its so convenient for us to get there!

besides the fact that u can get a whole bunch of practical stuff from ikea, i also love the dining area.

swedish meatballs are cool, but, i LOVE the NASI PADANG from ikea!! its only $4.90 and the portions are huge! the sambal is one of the yummiest i've had so far!

ikea breakfast is also worth gg down on a sat morning. their french toast is huge compared to the puny ones u'd get from any coffeeshop, and do try the tuna croissant. It's savory taste lets u enjoy every bite till the very end.

also, if u're a friend of ikea, (which i proudly can say i am, since you can only get it if u spend $300 in one receipt, which needless to say is cash i dun haf. well, my mom got it for me :P) you get two discounted meals and two free drinks. So, its a really lovely place to go and catch up with your friends and have a meal.

oh yes, i highly recommend the GREEN JELLY! whenever i go by ikea, i nvr fail to get one, and i always choose one with a cherry.. its simple AGAR-AGAR jelly, but i love it loads! :D

before i forget! for parents and their kids. its a really gd place to go to relax. You can leave ur kids with the ladybird ppl (i'm sorry, i forget wad its called), and its not like leaving your kids at a childcare, coz they haf loads of fun! i usually brg my brother if i head down to ikea alone. He loves to go there, coz he gets to collect a sticker for his passbook thing.

so anyway, u can leave ur kids there and haf good, well-deserved couple time for abt an hr, and then, get ur kids and haf a fantastic family meal together. not bad for a family outing huh! !
