The place to eat crabs in Singapore, famous for their salted egg and black pepper crab, and an incredible promo of just $18/crab. in addition to the crabs, they have almost 100 cze char dishes to choose from. close by to Orchard rd and 2 min walk from great world city. Crowded restaurant that has queue lines at dinnertime almost everyday.

I was really happy to finally find a place selling salted egg crab, its my favourite and not many places sell it. So we went to Irvin's seafood cze char to celebrate Father's day.
Due to its popularity, the place was packed and that badly affected service. There were about 12 of us and we were sitting at 2 tables placed side by side. We ordered 2 of every dish so that each table can comfortably reach out. However, the same dishes were served with a long lag in between. In fact, we thought that the 2 orders were served into 1 dish and started passing the plates around; only to realise there wasn't enough to go around because it was only 1 portion. Towards the end when we have almost finished the 1st portions, the 2nd portions started to arrive. Staff comments when we asked "Its like that one"
The salted egg crab was a huge disappointment with the taste being very bland and the sauce very diluted. The salted egg sauce tasted like it was just poured over the crab after its cooked, as opposed to cooking it together. In addition, it was served lukewarm, even the later 2nd portion.
However, the salted egg potato chips was very good! It is an interesting twist to the regular potato chips and it matched well. For those people who don't like soft potato chips, you don't know what you are missing if you don't try this. Great as a starter, but certainly built us up for a great let down with the crab.
We also had this claypot prawn with sumptuous gravy that had hints of pumpkin and salted egg. Its a mixture of sweet and savoury that complemented the taste of prawns very well. Maybe because of the claypot, this was the only dish that was served piping hot. Even when its cold, the dish was still delectable. Must try!
While there are some dishes that are uniquely tasty, the overall experience wasn't that pleasing.
