Visited the outlet for the steamboat buffet, only because I purchased an online coupon for half price (UP $25.80pp). The outlet was very crowded when we arrived at about 7pm.
First impressions: Reservations are recommended, although no one seems to pick up the phone number indicated. Voicemail directs you to email your reservation because the mailbox is always full. Not a very customer-friendly first impression.
Reception and cashier staff are very professional and collected money (you pay upfront) and seated us within five minutes. You have a choice of (diluted and watered-down) tom-yam or herbal chicken soup stock, served in your personal pot.
Choice of uncooked quite good with good range of fish-based (think yongtaufoo) dishes, sliced meat (beef runs out very quickly) and vegetables.
Because your steamboat is heated by a little burner, you stock takes quite a long time to heat, and your food will take quite a while to cook. (think that is their strategy to prevent you from overeating). Cook small portions to keep the heat up.
Fortunately, the selection of pre-cooked dishes keeps you from going hungry while you wait. The cooking station will cook your seafood ala minute, but the solitary cook there was overwhelmed by the orders (took us 40 minutes to get our food). We kept ourselves filled at the dessert table.
Nice touch to provide free iced water, and the clearing aunties were also very efficient.
Overall a good experience, however I am not sure I would pay full price for the spread.
