If you are looking for dinner below $10 for 2 pax, this is the place to go. After our weekly jog on a cool evening, we have decided to eat our hearts out at the ever so good Taman Jurong Food Centre. Level 3 was super packed with plenty of sizzling and burnt sambal aroma from the hot plates as such we proceeded to level 2 and got ourselves a windy seat right infront of Lucky Hiang. The stall I must say looked very nostalgia, just like what we see at some old coffee shops, operated by an old couple, we are mentally prepared to enjoy some home cooked meal styled dishes.

The varieties of dishes available, mostly stir fried and steamed is pretty good as compared and while we settled into our seats the friendly lady approached us for our orders introducing the veg they have for today. We settled for something healthy 2 dishes and 2 plates of rice and the portion that arrived wowed us.

    1) Stir Fried Kai Lan - a regular must have, this dish is well prepared with a savoury garlicky brown sauce that made the veg extra crispy. Ingredients used are fresh and the portion is good for 3 big eaters and 4 small eaters

    2) Claypot bean curd was a shock. Claypot is good for 4 and the ingredients include seafood such as fish, sotong and prawns with load of beancurds, veg and meat. The ingredients are fresh and gravy goes super well with the rice.

    3) Rice portion is good for one and the rice is soft and chewy, the only downside is that we don't get those aromatic rice we used to have, i guess our rice sources have changed and inflation has caused the good old aromatic grains to be something for exotic occasions only.

All these for just S$8, we had a shock when the aunty told us the price and gladly paid it. So if you want a healthy and hearty meal, this is the place to go. Food is delicious, ingredienrt fresh and cooked the way like my old grandma used to cook.. Such a gem should remain almost forever.

Location; 2/5 (hard to find) Variety: 3/5 Delicious: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Service: 3.5/5 (quicker then i expected)

Will i return: OF COURSE Will i bring my friends: OF COURSE
