My friends and I visit Manpuku often, mostly for their pies and lovely ambience. The seating area is spacious & comfortable enough.
Have tried the food from the other counters but sadly, didn't find anything special. Quality of food relative to price, I'd much prefer the selections from Meidi-ya in Liang Court.
Love the pies though, they look & taste sinfully scrumptious! You've got to try the tea offered (at $2 I think) per pie purchased, specifically Pearl of the Orient.
If you live in the East, looking for a place to chill out and catch up with friends and sick of the usual Starbucks/Coffee Bean yet not wanting to travel into town, I'll definitely recommend Manpuku (weekdays are quiet).

Manpuku Japanese Gourmet Town features 10 counters offering over 200 menu items such as ramen, udon, curry and pancakes from different parts of Japan.
We enjoyed an omuraisu (omelette rice) with tofu hamburger and an omuraisu with mixed sauces for just $6.50 each which was quick, tasty and reasonably priced.
There is a large dining hall, so there is enough seating for a large crowd. We found a quiet corner with a view (large windows overlooking Tampines MRT) which was just opposite the drinks and dessert stall. The area was decorated with fake sakura flowers, which made it seem a little bit more authentic.
