My Dining Room @ Kopitiam (The Central) - Eating Places

Kopitiam with the best view in town! Go in the evening after the office crowds have gone home. It's usually quite deserted as there are many more choices of F&B at the Central.

You can choose a seat next to the huge windows over looking the Singapore River and Clarke Quay. Then you can watch other people (with bigger budgets) having dinner at nice (and expensive) dining outlets.

The view is really spectacular considering what you are paying for the food at Kopitiam. You can watch the occasional boatload of tourists snapping away at Clarke Quay. flashes going off all the time. Or watch the stomach-churning Reverse Bungy and cries of terror.

There isn't a very large selection of food at this outlet, but all the stallholders are very friendly and chatty. Hokkien Mee, Yong Tau Fu and Thai food are my fave choices at this outlet.

I tend to avoid the drinks and dessert stall cos the stallholders are not very professional or courteous. I prefer to head downstairs to Yakun, Starbucks or Burger King for my after-dinner drinks.

I have eaten twice at this food court and I patronize the same stall. There is this uncle selling Hokkien Mee and Cha Kwa Tiao. It is the last stall near the escalator going down. He is a really friendly guy and he talk about his food business in Australia and his children each time I went to his stall.

Try to strike a conversation with him and he will offer you more but at the same price. The second time I visited him and he even offer me a drink. He claimed that someone gave it to him and he does not take cold drink. It cost $1.50 at the food court.

If you see there is a long queue, you would know the food is good. Try out the Korean food stall in this foodcourt, and you will leave with a satisfactory smile. Bibimbap - sssshiok! have fun churning the ingredients and savour the slightly spicy mixed rice Hotplate beef w rice - Too bad the meat was not sizzling on the hotplate. The meat is well marinated, a tinge of sweet and spicy in it. Kimchi soup w rice - prepare a pack of tissue to blow your nose. Its hot! Wide awake after this meal
