I visited NUH for consultation with a specialist doctor. But I thought the waiting time could be improved. Despite having made an appointment, I waited 1.5 hours for my turn. The doctor was fine though. When it came to medication collection, I had to go to another floor to collect it from the Pharmacy. Here I had to wait like 20 minutes to collect my medicine, next I had to queue to pay for it at the cashier which fortunately was quick. In short I had to waste over 2 hours (excluding the time with the doctor). The fee was slightly less than that of private clinics but it also depend on the seniority of the doctor you choose to see. First- time consultation requires additional fee. Appointment can be made via emails, but the waiting queue is long so you may have to wait a couple of weeks to see the Dr. You may also have to walk a distance to reach the department/ clinics. This is unlike in private hospitals where all the clinics are located in a common building near the taxi-stand.
The restrooms in NUH could be improved. Most if not all are unisex, and each is in an enclosed cubicle with its own basin and toilet bowl.
The canteen here offer a wide variety of food including Delifrance and Bengawan Solo. There a Mr Bean shop too at the first floor near the main entrance. Other shops include 7-Eleven, a bookstore, Pharmacy, and a few other.
