Looking for a place to laze on a cold wet evening right after dinner in Holland Village is not a simple affair. Coffee bean is too crowded with students huddling with their loved ones and starbucks overwhelmed with business talks, while haagan daz simply lacks variety, we ended up in NYDC which gave us quite a surprisingly pleasant nights out.
Attracted by the beautiful christmas tree and the equally pleasant window by the street shop front, we entered the small european feel wooden door just to be greeted by smiling staffs! We managed to grab the seat just by the window facing the small street outside and it totally felt like NottingHill. It was great to watch the diner and the club hoppers pace around while some settling down on the high table and chairs for a quick bite some beer with smiles plastered on their faces.
The choices on the menu was fabulous, they have a good variety of mains, sandwiches, finger food and everything in between, not to mention the slurpilicious concoction of dessert and fantasy drinks. We ended up with a slice of orea cheesecake which is rich and creamy and a superlicious mudpie which is like an ice-cream cake on brownie but think more chocolatie and messy.
A carafe of cranberry punch makes the calories go away, the place is clean, scenic (thats if you think street drunks are a scene) and extremely comfy cushy seats. You can get almost what young chaps like us love to eat and price is pretty affordable.

When i visited NYDC last Wednesday, it was a toss between Sphagetti meatballs or one of the baked pasta/ rice.
I was there cos I was so sure I wanted the sphagetti meatballs but nearly changed my mind when I saw plates after plates of the baked pasta being brought out of the kitchen.
They also had a selection for kids. Not much though. I mistakenly ordered a chicken pie for my daughter and realised my mistake when it came. I dont think she can help herself when she is only 2yrs old. So, ended up ordering the nuggets. Not bad nuggets though.
They ran out of fried mushrooms so we settled for their yummy mushroom soup. Nice.
Food is above average and the service is average.

Pros: Cute deco using toys like Cookie monsters giving a pleasant feeling when we first walk into the restaurant. Staffs are generally friendly and react fast to requests. Funny names of the dishes leaves us wonder about which kind to order and anticipate what we will get. Orders came fast enough for us to remain patient. Order side dish: Garlic bread with Mosella Cheese, seems to be one of the best item in the menu. Crispy crust with soft bread and chewy cheese on it. Its a good place for small gatherings.
Cons: Food is so so. Ordered the Band Aid mud cake and the bony cake and was quite disappointed with the taste. Band Aid was quite plain though its lead actor is coffee and even uses Kalua to taste. The bony cake on the whole is better than Band Aid though the ice cream taste abit funny.
