1 Review for “Orchard View Restaurant ” - Restaurants

This time, my makan adventure goes to Pekan Ampang, the Ground Zero of all Yong Tau Foo in the planet.
There's a reason of us driving all the way to the traffic-congested Pekan Ampang for Yong Tau Foo, even though we can get 'em in KL itself. Kenneth Kwan and his wife Hui Wen were in town, coming from Singapore for their church's annual camp, which was held at Times Square (see how loaded Singaporean churches are!?).
So instead of bringing them to posh restaurant in KL, we thought of bringing them to eat something more locally-authentic (and because we can't afford to treat them at posh restaurants ).
There are 3 famous restaurants that offer original Yong Tau Foo, and all of them are just next to each other. They are Foong Foong (supposedly the nicest), Ochard View and the Ampang Homeland (a distant third).
The place would be REALLY crowded during weekends, so go early to avoid long waiting time for table. We went for Orchard View because Foong Foong was filled to the brim, and even Orchard View was 95% filled.
Once we got the table and ordered, the food did come fairly quickly. I couldn't remember my last visit prior to that day, but I do remember the taste. And so glad to know that the taste is still as great as ever. And my favourite fried sui kow (dumpling) is simply wonderful, we sapu-ed all 30 pieces of the sui kow.
And to my surprise, the price is considerably cheap. I think each piece costs only RM0.50 or RM0.60 (couldn't remember clearly, sorry). Less tasty ones in KL actually cost more, with an average price of RM0.70 or RM0.80, albeit with a more comfortable settings (air-cond etc.).
Yea, I think the Singaporeans were pretty satisfied with our "loot" that day. Although they looked so puzzled when they found out that we don't eat 'em with noodles as they do. So for great taste and great time with friends, faster head straight to traffic crawl in Pekan Ampang!!
