Orchid Bowl (Chevrons Club)

A weekend at the bowling alley used to be how I spent my free time in the past when the biceps are still clinching and tummy non existent, however with the advancement of technology, we now spent our bowling time in front of the television and the faithful Wii Machine; the same, we could still trash our friends miles away with a good broadband network. Yet this trip to the bowling alley brought back many good memories, not forgetting the aching pain on the back and thighs. Old muscles stretched and some calories burned.

Its a pretty place, situated at the top level of the building. Its not as cold as most bowling alleys used to be. We have decided on the first two lanes to avoid being laughed at when our balls rolled backwards. These days the facilities are much more advanced. Instead of flipping the guiders up manually (for the children to avoid washing the drains), it is now automated and could easily be programmed for a certain player. The balls were pretty well managed, though still oily like before, but the lanes well oiled, maintained. Unlike some of the old bowls where the lanes are wooden, this one is a spanking polishing plastic lane.

I think not many noticed the bowling alley of this club is open to public, as such it is not crowded on a weekend afternoon. Well, if you have the NTUC card or Passion card, you get a discount also other than the public rate which is pretty nominal. The service at the payment counter was quick and at the shoe counter pretty friendly. The lady also offered us a ball for our little 8 year old with 5 holes for all five fingers!

Overall, this club is clean and facilities pretty well maintained. Its not new but its pretty okay for use. The animation on the score screen is also pleasant to look at. Food selections are few but you get some nice snacks and the toilets are clean and dry with paper.
