Decent pasta~
Its been a while since I frequented pasta mania as I didn't believe in the quality although I know its good for a quick and cheap pasta kick. This time, friends wanted a cheap carbo load for Sundown Marathon so I went along :I
One of the grips I have with cheap pasta chains is that they don't know how to cook the pasta properly i.e al dente. And one of the tricks I learned is when unsure, order penne, because it is more difficult to overcook penne.
Prawn alio olio ($9.60) - with penne. Surprisingly generous portion and the penne cooked just nice. The prawns were diced rather than whole, I guess to make it look more than it was. Decent taste :D
My dinner mates had other things which I did not try but they looked decent.
Also took their "Set C" which gives you a drink and garlic bread at an additional $3.60. The bread was very hard and the drink, well is just a drink. Just that Coke Light costs $0.30 more.
I'm glad that the quality has improved so much :D My only grip is that the tables are packed so tightly you hardly have any space against whoever is sitting behind you; the back of the seats sort of kiss each other.

Ive always been a fan of pasta and Id say the pasta served at pasta mania is pretty alright for its price.
but just to share an experience about the service at pasta mania tampines mall.
i love pasta with lots and lots of parmesan cheese. so when my pasta was served, and the bottle of cheese on my table was empty, i asked one of the waitress for a new bottle. she passed me one from the next table with a teeny weeny bit of cheese left inside and i told her that its not enough and id really like her to just refill mine.
she gave me a sharp glare, without saying anything and went ahead to the counter to get me another bottle of cheese. and when she passed me the cheese and i thanked her, she just ignore me and walked away.
hello? is it very difficult to just walk a few steps to get me a bottle of cheese? id have done it myself if i knew where they kept their cheese.
urgh!

Having tried small piece of the Unagi Pizza at Pastamania, I simply needed more. Since we were around one outlet, we decided to have our dinner there.
He ordered Aglio Olio Pasta, adding Chicken to it, and I had the Unagi Pizza.
The place was quite packed since it was a weekend. Thus we waited quite awhile for our order to come. Good thing we ordered the set that comes with soup, drinks and toast. Else I would have suffered from hunger due to the wait.
10mins later, the pasta came. Having paid extra for the chicken, it was quite a disappointment. The chicken was tasteless and it didn't go that well with the choice of sauce.
After a long wait, the pizza didn't come. He took his time to eat his pasta, but even so, the pizza didn't come after he finished his pasta! We checked with the manager on duty and he told us the pasta is coming soon. True enough, the next order that came out from the pizza counter was my Unagi Pizza.
Due to the wait, my tummy was already missing the hunger that it initially have. Looking at the pizza infront of me, I didn't quite have the appetite to finish it.
As expected, the pizza was nice and yummy when eaten hot. Taste of the sauce with the unagi and thin crust of pizza makes eating it enjoyable. (It would have been better if we didn't have to wait that long for it.)
