Eastpoint Mall was re-opened in Dec 14 after major upgrading works. Unfortunately, it has attracted a lot of feedback regarding issues like the main passenger lifts are always full with customers and trolleys. Some questioned the logic of locating this supermarket at Level 5 which shoppers waiting at lower levels are not able to use especially those in baby prams and wheel-chaired.

As there is only 1 set of escalators, all shoppers are being made to walk one big round on each floor and that is where we saw this new food outlet.

There is only one family waiting in front of us. When we glanced around, we saw a few empty tables but leftover food was not cleared. It looked like this outlet is understaffed. The family of 4 decided to make their own way to one of the tables after waiting for 10 mins without any single staff attending to the queue. We also walked to another table and signalled the staff to clean it for us while we quickly ordered our food.

We ordered those usual items that Penang is well known but unfortunately, it was the wrong choice.

Penang Char Kway Teow ( $8.80 ) - Thin strips of noodles with countable bean sprouts that is very bland except for medium-sized prawns.

Chicken Rendang ( $10.80 ) - The most expensive and disappointing dish as it looked more like curry chicken with diluted gravy.

Cuttlefish with KangKong ( $7.80 ) - Again, diluted sauce and vegetables are overcooked and soggy.

Bubur Cha Cha ( $4.80 ) - Only 1 spoonful of ingredients. Both the yam and sweet potatoe cubes are tasteless and every spoon stir caused them to break into pieces.

    Steamed Rice ( $2.00 ) - Small bowl of half-cooked rice

We are very disappointed with the dishes and more upset when we saw the bill. 10% service charge for not ushering to table, no staff available to attend to order and walking to counter to pay? Now we truly understand why we should support tipping instead of being slapped with service service when there is clearly none being offered to us.
