Pietrasanta - The Italian Restaurant

I was lured here with the promise of great pizzas. I was told that the pizzas were comparable to the ones I had in Italy. Now how is anyone supposed to turn away from such an alluring promise?

We started the dinner with an appetizer of Mozzarella and Parma ham. This particular course was listed under the Specials of day and so I will assume it is not always available.

A pity it is not because I had truly enjoyed this course and was quite grateful to the waitress who had advised us against ordering another course of appetizer as the portion was good enough for two to share.

With a great start to the dinner, I was waiting for my my pizza with glee and anticipation. But sad to say, this is where I felt really let down by the whole dining experience.

The pizza we had ordered, on top of not having a great crust ( a must for me when it comes to pizzas), also comes with a bland, tasteless base. While the toppings were fresh and delicious, no amount of its freshness was actually able to make up for the bland almost bread like base.

I felt like the whole dining experience was a roller coaster ride that night, with all the anticipation building up with that beautiful mozzarella and then almost hitting rock bottom with the pizza that tasted like it needed salt.

The wine selection was also pathetic. I would have expected a lot more from an Italian restaurant.

I might give it a second try but I will probably make my way there with a lot less enthusiasm this time. Unless maybe they have the mozzarella special again for that day.
