Leisure spot for tai tai~
A very packed place on a Saturday afternoon...so we opted for outdoors as it meant a shorter wait :D
Service was smiley and cheery and brunch menu simple. Ordered stuff to share between the 2 of us (I forgot to take pics of the menu so don't quite remember the exact ingredients....):
Big Nihon ($18) - Expected bigger portion actually. Soba, edamame, greens, peppers, tomato, sesame, and salmon pieces. Nice Jap combo and fresh salmon but I thought the dressing would have been better if it was more tangy.
Crab Cake ($26) - Huge tart that came with a side of greens. Was quite alot of crab meat but I felt the tart was a tad too thick.
I also had some lime soda thingy which was very refreshing for the alfresco seating. A good spot for a leisure afternoon but remember to call ahead for an indoor spot because sweating tai tais are hardly glam.

Hey, they have a new PS Cafe branch at Palais Renaissance. I'm not sure if the menu is different from the Harding road branch as I only had desserts at the Harding road branch. The decor and ambience is very different, I actually like the Palais branch decor. It is quite secluded, and the decor is breezy with palm trees, high ceiling, tiled black/white flooring and wooden furniture. Reminds me of Raffles Hotel. I noticed that they have a private room in what looked like a glasshouse, good for private functions.
There's a good looking waiter too. He was tall, well-built and had a very nice face. My gf, *** friend and I were busy drooling over him. Only hubby was not impressed. Haha!
The starters were excellent, mains pretty good and desserts okay. Can't remember exactly what we had, but we had 2 starters for 4 of us. A tofu dish which was surprisingly tasty and very smooth. A grilled prawn item, delish! For mains, I had the spatchcock with roasted pumpkin mash. I love pumpkin so the dish was perfect. We also had 2 types of pasta and a fish dish. Pasta was good but not unique. Fish was nicely done, not overcooked.
For dessert, we had 2 coffees, a slice of carrot cake and a chocolate doorstop. The carrot cake was not to my taste as I do not like it heated up (changes the taste and texture of the cream cheese), but each to his own I guess. The doorstop was quite good, layers of chocolatey goodness with crunchy layers. Almost like eating a large rectangular Malteser. We also had 2 smoothies at the begining of the meal. Bill came up to $75 per person. Pricey but I would go there again, for the ambience/decor.
