Today is not Monday, but I decided to surprise you with a slice of rich and good cake anyway. Sorry I have been kept busy by a lot of stuff, and I’m not able to blog as frequently as I’ll like, there are so many places that I went recently and I’ll love to share them with you. Until then, lets keep our attention to the cake shan’t we?
Cakes come in all form and sizes, there are the pretty-but-can-be-better-ones, and also some-which-I-absolutely-fall-in-love-with. There’s also those which are very simple and made me go back twice in four days. Cakes are good on a date, and it’s meant to be share with your love ones and friends, there’s just nothing like ending on a sweet note yeah?
I love the look on your face when you grazed upon the slice of rich and good cake, so stop resisting, you know you need that slice of cake! I think I’m getting pretty obsessed with cakes, I even dream about them at night. Oh gosh.
I confess: I’m definitely a dessert-holic, and why not? Desserts chase your monday blues away, a slice of good cake never fails to cheer you up, and I couldn’t help feeling “oops I did it again” everytime I eat a dessert. But who cares? Desserts make me happy. I’m superficial. Whatever.
Coming back to the rich and good cake, I have been hearing so much about it. Therefore when I was in the area last week, I know I have to get it. The sponge was very, very delicate, it’s quite unlike your typical sponge cake. But the kaya can really be better, it would be perfect if they give more kaya fillings too! Not that I’m complaining anyway, it’s still a slice of rich & good cake.
Long story short, if you like my review please do come by ladyironchef . . . for the delicious in you

O.o i knew about the swiss roll , and today then i knew that the shop is called Rich and Good Cake shop ! Thanks to Yebber :)
I chance upon to have a taste on their swiss roll as my boss brought it for us to try.
She bought 4 flavours which are Chocolate, Durian , Strawberry and Kaya.
In fact i already had my lunch , however, i can't resist the temptation of having a mouth of swiss roll cake. Therefore, for all the rolls , i cut out one tiny bits which is about 1/8 of the size so that i can taste all the swiss roll and not feeling too full !! ^ ^
After tasted, i am glad to say that i like their strawberry swiss roll and i would like to rank them by this order 1) strawberry, 2) durian ,3 ) kaya , 4 ) Chocolate.
I don't quite like their chocolate swiss roll as i felt that the chocolate they use can be better.
After all, their swiss roll is much more nicer compare to those swiss roll which is selling in neighbourhood bakeries shop.

Few years ago, my ex colleagues called to order quite a big number of swiss rolls from Rich and Good Cake Shop. Since the number is quite significant to them, they actually offered to send it over to us.
I did not ordered any of them at that time as i have never eaten their swiss rolls before. And when my ex colleagues offered one small slice of swiss roll to me, i fall in love with it almost immediately. Till now, i still can't forget the taste of their swiss roll so here i am searching for their swiss roll.
The only information that i knew it they are located near bugis mrt station. With this bit of information, i began to search for the kanhadar street. I cannot really say the place is easy to find as i have make quite abit of wrong rounds myself but what i can say is that the shop is actually quite near the mrt station (near as in it will take about 5-10 minutes of walking time).
A rather simple and plain shop i can say, without any cake display outside their shop, i cannot really tell if there are still any swiss roll left. Nevertheless, i pushed the door and went right it. The staff was rather friendly and start introduce a few more popular cakes that are available there.
In the end, i choose two flavours of swiss rolls -- durian and kaya. In each box, there are too long rolls of swiss roll. Since, i intend to give one of them as a gift, the staff gladly swop one of the swiss roll for me. So, i get one kaya and one durian swiss rolls per box.
The packaging of the box is very plain and simple, one definitely will not think that they have any nice stuff in it. Well, perhaps its really not that accurate to judge a cake by its box.
The swiss roll are real good! Good because of three things. First, the sponge cake is super soft and it actually will melt in your mouth. It has been a long time since i have tasted such texture of a cake.
Secondly, the spread (durian or kaya) is just nice - not too thin nor too thick. There are a few times whenever i eat swiss rolls, the ends of the sponge cake tend to have less spread. This definitely does not occurs here.
Third and finally, the spread is real nice. Without opening the box, one will be able to smell the rich and strong smell of kaya and durian. Impressing issn't it?
I will definitely go there for more if i am around that area. :)
