And yes, I am glad we're just a few blocks away from the new Sembawang Shopping Centre! This is the latest (i guess) addition among Capitaland's malls and safe for me to say -- shopper friendly at it's best! You can even bring along your grocery cart from level 1 to the topmost level! There's a wide variety of eating places to choose from (western, chinese, japanese, malay, etc). There's a place to go to for each and every member of your family, especially that for the kids as they've added a playground at the rooftop! I wonder why they didn't put a cinema though.

I knew about the recent re-opening of Sembawang Shopping Centre from a man who handed out a promotional flyer when I was about to exit the Sembawang MRT station.
We live in Sembawang area but we haven't been to this mall before it was closed for renovation. So we have no idea where it is located. My sister and I decided to check out the mall so we headed to the bus stop for the free shuttle in front of Sembawang MRT station opposite the 7-Eleven store.
The free shuttle comes every hour, which is actually a little frustrating as bigger malls have shuttle buses that pick up customers every 10 or 15 minutes. Anyway, we waited patiently for half an hour or so. When the bus came, there are already a lot of people in the bus stop.
After almost an hour of waiting and standing in a packed bus came a shocking discovery. The mall is just near our place. If we knew it is just along the Sembawang Road and in front of Yishun live seafood house, we could have just walked. But it was fun. We just laughed and laughed about it.
I am glad that we have another place to shop. SSC is like a small sister of IMM in Jurong East. Some of the shops are still not open like the Cotton On, Ajisen. Daiso, Esprit outlet, Ocean Pacific, Body Shop, M1, Giant, on the other hand, are already open. Although the mall isn't as big as others, it's quite an interesting one as I must admit I am growing a little bored of Sun Plaza after all these years.
We also ate at the Kopitiam upstairs. It was busy and a little noisy. It took me long time to find seats. Actually, after roaming around the food court, I decided to stand in a corner and wait for a couple to finish eating. Once I saw them stand, I ran towards the table instantly.
After checking the mall, we just walked back home...just 10 minutes away. We will go back again to check out Cotton On and Ajisen.
So if you're planning to check out this mall and you're just staying in the Sembawang area, you may want to walk instead of waiting for the free shuttle. It is just a few minutes away from the MRT station.
[Be careful though as I have just been in an accident on Christmas eve, along Sembawang Road. A taxi driver had been beating the red light and hit me...me, who felt so safe walking once I saw the green man. Hmmm maybe you just take the bus then, maybe it's safer. Anyway, just be safe...in everything. Please. :) ]
