I was there for an event at the ballroom and was pleasantly surprised with the good service and nice ambience. Though the location is a little bit off, yet its walking distance from Newton MRT and many buses leading to the Orchard Road Shopping Strip.
My first impression was of a homely warmth ambience with lots of classy flower arrangements and a grand wooden stairway that leads to the second level. Though the large lobby also housed a lounge and dining area, sound was well contained by the super high ceilings and large panelled glass windows that overlooked the beautiful garden outside.
Up to the second storey leads to the ballroom and as usual, we visit the restrooms to prevent awkward moments later. Behind the British influenced wooden door that leads to a large rest room with plenty of cubicles, we are greeted with marbled flooring and state of the art sensor taps, dryers and other accessories.
Heavily carpeted with plenty of lounging couches for small group discussions just outside the ballrooms made the entire level 2 cosy and inviting. Before the event, there was a coffee and tea table outside for making your favourite beverage. The coffee is not nice at all however the selection of tea flavors impressed me. Cubes of white or brown sugar are available as well as super yummy butter cookies are available free flow.
The sound system and air-conditioning was good and sound insulation from neighbouring events was great as well. During the break we were served some snacks and it was yummy. There was a ham and cheese croissant sandwich served cold was just okay while the fruit tartlets with custard filling was uneventful. The one i fell in love with was the Salmon Quiche. Generously flaky salmon in a savoury egg batter and buttery pastry base, served hot was too yummy not to have more.
We had a pleasant experience especially with the prompt clearing of used plates and primping of the event hall when we went for break. Service was almost excellent. We will consider this location for future events.
