Tried this Jap resturant recently at Prinsep place which my friends highly recommended, we were there for our monthly gathering with 10 of us. Since it's my first time trying out Japanese dish- Okonomiyaki and is highly recommended, I would like to drop a few lines to comment. The night is Sat and was fully packed, thank god we made reservation. The experience was fun and interesting, 1st time trying to cook myself and in a restaurant, we got so excited! Too bad did not get to take pictures otherwise can share in the forum. The food is tasty, we tried the "Ebi-Tama" which is a pre-mixed paste with cabbage and seafood. The staff explaint and helped us with it, otherwise, base on the instructions, didn't quite able to do it on our own. The sauces they placed on the table was well organized, from labelled 1-5, just need to spread on the sauces as instructed and we are done! Very interesting concept, and for occasions, I can come to think of going back again! Delicious and fun experience!

Unique food & concept, I like it! ;)

My gang & I were thinking of going French dining on Prinsep street but changed our mind when we discovered quite an eye-catching phrase at the japanese restaurant "Sumomo" - A "D.I.Y Okonomiyaki" restaurant last night. Decided to give a shot afterall, it has been a long time eversince I last tried Okonomiyaki in Kyoto, Japan.

We fixed our orders for their signature dishes- "Modan Yaki" & "All mixed okonomiyaki", that was fabulous! remind me of the taste exactly I tried from Japan, if I could remember....they also have a variety of side orders which looks delicous ..., I watched many Japanese customers waiting for "Tako yaki", guess must be good as chef were busy preparing their repeat orders...staff explaint have to wait for another 20 to 30 minutes so we decided not to order this round but to watch others were tucking it.... I thought this Sumomo branding is only good at OKonomiyaki as they mentioned, we tried their tempura and sashimi, surprisingly, it was so fresh and crunchy, we all like it! Though have to say, the pricing not on the low end.

We were seating at their outside area, it was completely packed and some customers were waiting to be served...I supposed we have to order all the food at one go come to peak hours when the shop is completely full house. Besides this little flaw, I would rate this place as excellent and comfy for the atmospher. Next time better order all at one go! oops! ; P
