Swensen’s (Bukit Panjang Plaza)

Was walking around this heartland mall and at the same time thinking what i should eat for lunch when i saw this particular restuarant. Yah, this restuarant is non other than the famous ice cream restuarant -- Swensen's.

Heard from my friend that they have recently update their menu, so under the power of curiosity, we decided to give Swensen a try.

This particular Swensen outlet is pretty small in size (probably due to the structure of the outlet which is in L shaped). Tables and chairs were pretty limited but they still managed to input some comfortable sofa seats which i preferred. One good thing about this outlet is that you get to see a magnificant view from the dining area. Although the view is not some sea side view, its still pretty refreshing to see those vehicles (buses and cars) and people passing by.

The first difference that i have spot about the menu its the size. Yes, they have up the size of their menu and now it comprises more pictures and varieties of food.

They have included soups in their food menu too which i think its a good change. However, their soup variety that was introduced was pretty limited (only two types) and even lacks the most common mushroom flavour. sad.

We decide to order their burgers which looks appetising from the pictures in the menu. hahaha... was trying to decide between the two burgers -- one is the bbq mushroom chicken burger and the other is the sourdough sandwich. In the end, we settled for the sourdough as the chicken burger consist of eggplant! (which i strongly dislike) :P

The sourdough turns out to be quite normal. :( Bread was not toasted (oh well, the picture in the menu gave me the impression that its toasted, was rather disappointed when i found out later that it not) and the chicken meat was abit too salty for my taste.

Just how can we walk into swensen without tasting their famous ice cream??? But servings of ice cream in a cup is too ordinary, so we decided to try out something new --Their sizzing pans!

They have four types of sizzling pans -- the banana crumble, apple crumble, walnut pie and the white chocolate blondie. Tried their apple crumble which i think its nice!!!

They bascially put a large piece of apple crumble on the hot pans and placed a single scope of vanilla ice cream (yummy!)right on top of it. Upon serving the dish, they would pour in apples cubes and also some milky cream sauce into the entire pan. (which consitute to the sizzling sound) One of the best dessert i have eaten so far.

I acutally quite like their service. Reason being their attentiveness to their customer. They will look into every small details of their customer. Take for example, when they see that our water is almost finish, they will top up our water without asking. Rather rare to find in today service line. :)
