1 Review for “The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (Jem) ” - Restaurants

Dropped by my favourite hangout yesterday evening and it totally felt like Christmas sitting on the comfy couches of coffee bean watching shoppers go by as though they were dancing to the ringing beat of " Jingle Bells Jingle Bells". The location of this outlet is very interesting. Love the indoor alfresco feel signature of many coffee places especially The Coffee Bean... The indoor alfresco is an outdoor sitting outside the shop premises by the corridor with just some fencing for a little privacy. You get to enjoy a private space at the same time watch the shoppers go by and does not look awkward in the middle of nowhere while you enjoy the air-conditioning and do not have to brave the fickle weather conditions of Singapore.
There are many seats here, warm and cosy is how I feel of the deco while the indoor sitting is just like you are by a fireplace. The choice of food for dining has improved through the years. Besides just cakes and cookies, they have included a great deal of all day breakfast like toast and sandwiches as well as hot food such as pasta, baked rice and other simple yet food the fills and warms your tummy.
We had dinner at this outlet and tried the mac and cheese. While I think about how cheesy and milky mundane this could be, the Mac & Cheese like a mud hole in the crevice of a plate. Hot and gooey, yet with a dash of pepper, i was astounded. The macaroni was cooked just right, not too soft and chewy and the mix of cheese, i guess loads of chedder with a mixture of other mild cheese was not too strong and easy to go with my creamy coffee concoction. We could also not finish a mac and cheese because half way through we usually grow sick of the cheese, while this time round, we finished this less licking the plate clean. It was good.
Next we had another cheesy dish which is the Penne mushroom. Its pasta in cream sauce with mushroom, capsicum and some veg, sprinkled with load of parmesan cheese for that extra punch. It was just alright, a little too creamy and plain.
We always loved the drinks and for this year's Christmas the Double Chocolate Peppermint Ice Blended was mine favourite. Chocolaty and minty not forgetting to add a good spray of light whipped cream for that extra calories.
The night ended well though i still spotted some unfriendly students studying during dinner hours as though blind to the sign that clearly states NO STUDYING DURING PEAK HOURS.. sometimes it just gets on people's nerves....
