i stayed there in 2006 Christmas.
i checked into the opulent suite and it was about $500 plus for a night's stay. hmm... frankly, some parts of the room's designs did impressed me. but frankly, it was abit gloomy i have no idea why. it seems pretty 'dark'.
some of the plus points are they have free dvd rental, (but limited choices), they have a outdoor jacuzzi, free wi-fi, jacuzzi bath tub in the room, nice lavender aromatherapy toiletries etc.
frankly, there aint much to do there in the afternoon except to take pictures in the room or you wanna pay a visit to peoples park centre to buy some cheap perfume.
the food there are alright but way over priced. i didnt even dare to open food to my room for supper after spending 500bucks on the room!
we had a free buffet breakfast at the courtesy of the hotel, and it was like, nasi lemak buffet, which doesnt taste like nasi lemak at all. it was like rice with very very little coconut milk taste and choices of ikan bilis, egg and fish.
i guess id just go there for the experience or maybe for anniversaries. other than that, i think its quite an expensive weekend getaway.

Beware! Do Not waste your $ to stay in this hotel. I was pampering my mum so I take her to Singapore. I have done some research and understand the standard/Deluxe rooms are windowless in Scarlet Hotel. So I booked an Executive room with twin size bed (with prefer King Size commend added) through AsiaBestHotel.com (RMG Tours Pte Ltd.). When we arrived at the front desk on 26-Sep-07, we were told they only got Queen Size bed for us because the rest are fully booked. As this is not what we booked so I insisted to have either Twin or King size bed. They firstly put us in Room 125 but I realized that room is without a window and feel like a cell, and checked with the luggage man the room type when out luggage were delivered to this room. The answer was “Standard Room”, he said. So I called up the front desk to request for room change but they insist Room 125 is an Executive room with Twin size bed as we requested, not all Executive rooms are with window unless we have put such request when place the reservation. After near one hour communication, we have no choice had to accept the original room which is with Queen Size bed, and carry our entire luggage to Room 226 by ourselves (with my mum). This is a very small room – no room for more then a small luggage, no bathtub, the window is face the car park. What a disaster!!!!!!

I stayed at Scarlet on 2 occasions. The first time was in Feb 2006. The room we had was great; it was spacious and reasonably priced, as they were carrying out the soft launch of the hotel. I recall that the room was on the first storey and that was the only room that had a "see-through" bathroom window. Great for romantic escapades. The downside was that there was not much of a view.
The 2nd stay was in Feb 2007 but I was actually a little disappointed compared to the first encounter. The room that we had was actually much smaller in size although we believe that we had booked the same category as we did during our 1st stay.
To my memory, I believe we had stayed at the premium grade during our first stay. In order to know what you are getting when making a reservation, suggest that you provide as much details/description and ask questions in making sure that you are getting what you want, unless you have no particular preferences for room.
The location of the hotel is close to a number of pubs around the club street area. There is also a maxwell market where a variety of food could be found. As for tourist attractions, there is a Buddha Tooth Relic temple which was officially open in 2007.
